9.5

Star anise and thyme as standout descriptors. Open but still long life ahead.

Edit day two: fleshed out considerably. Just a really solid, seamless steely chablis

This Chablis is great value and might even be a bit young. And fortunately holds time well. I have the 2008 in 1.5L . Magic still. Love this juice from Fevre. And the Les Clos is off the chain great. And Bougros also great.

Thanks for the insights Gary, actually this is my first bottle of Fevre. Having multiple vintages of recent Clos, Bourgeos, etc. I read here on Delectable recently that these wines could be opened relatively young. So this first sample bottle confirmed the quality and confirmed that there is also absolutely no hurry in opening these. I'll probably keep buying these giving the price points compared to Raveneau etc.

Agreed. The whole lineup of Fevre Chablis Grand Cru represent a great price/value relationship compared to Raveneau and Davissat., etal.

John C. Sullenger Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

9.3

93 that leans into 94 and will see another point or two with 10 years in bottle.

Sofia and I used to go to their futures luncheon for many years. This vineyard consistently yields fruit that makes one of their best Cabernet’s.

It’s lush as it enters and falls onto dry, meaty tannins. Blackberries, creamy black raspberries, black plum with skin, dark cherries & purple fruits. Dry crushed rocks, dry top soil, limestone & volcanic minerals, moist clay, dry tobacco, new, raw leather, still very woody, mixed mid & dark berry cola, plenty of baking spices-clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanilla, dark spices with some heat, some dry herbs, dark melted, chocolate, cocoa powder, caramel notes, bright, fresh & candied florals that are dark, red, blue and framed in violets & lavender, ver nice round acidity with a highly structured, tensioned, well balanced and polished finish that lasts 90 seconds but still lands squarely on wood.

Never disappoints. Deep nose: liqueur cherry & plum. But "deeper": caramel brownie - caramel, dark chocolate & gingerbread note. — 20 days ago

Got many of these from '19-'21: how are these in terms of maturity? Child murder or good to go?

Certainly drinkable now. Quite primary and vivid. If you like more resolved whites I’d give it 5 years but I’ve never really known these to shut down, so there’s always something to get from them. I prefer Fevre quite young as their fruit is really dynamic them. I’ve never found them profound with age

One of my favorite GSM blends. Gloriously rich and spicy. Still years of life left. — 3 months ago

Cuvée William Deutz Millésimé Brut Champagne 2008

Medium straw colour . Fine , constant perlage . Brioche , confit lemon and jasmine, ginger notes . Fills out well on the palate with those candied lemon , brioche notes , lots of backbone and intensity . Mineral fresh acidity . Still quite young , so probably even better in 5 years and will last a further 5-10 years — 3 months ago
