Huge Bear

Fairview Cellars

The Bear Premier Series Okanagan Valley Red Blend 2020

Very nice red from a quaint smaller winery. Wonderful tasting experience at the winery. Would buy again. — 3 months ago

Joseph Phelps Vineyards

Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Huge red fruit, soft tannins. An absolute baby with at least 20 years to evolve. Long lingering aftertaste on the mid pallet. Minerality and tannins will continue to become a bigger part of the taste profile. I won't try again for a few years. Huge upside. You can and should purchase while still available. A great addition to the wine cellar. Now that Phelps has sold it will be interesting to see what they do with Insignia.🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 months ago

Bonneau du Martray

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 1986

Great color in the decanter... medium gold with an enticing perfume. Notes of sweet Meyer lemon, apricot, gravel stone, tan clay, some mint, a little ginger and some sweet marzipan. Has an exotic and slightly musty (desirable) funk. Huge weight with great fruit and solid acidity in the mouth. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Awesome juice! If you Google “why should I age white burgundy?”, an image of this 35 year old bottle should be shown... — 3 years ago

It’s been great for decades. A bit of botrytis makes it exotic. I’ve got just one left.

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Very deep ruby , ruby rim, shockingly young . Very closed still , mineral , creme de cassis , dark and meaty , grafite , chestnut . On the palate very tight and young , cassis with dark blackcurrant , cedar , tobacco and granite . Concentrated but balanced at the same time , gritty tannins , balanced acidity. Long and complex on the finish , with mineral , grafite notes . A great wine surely , this is so young and with huge potential. I suppose more impressive than enjoyable at this stage. This needs time in bottle, maybe come back in 5 years and will last a further 20-30 . — 4 months ago

Holding up nicely. Lost some fruitiness but otherwise quite good. — 4 months ago

Caymus Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

So ripe and big. Goes better with dessert than the meal. Huge vanilla oak with sweet berry jam, there is mint dark chocolate, and tannin, cedar on the finish. Overall when I really think about it, this tastes interesting, but there is a sweetness throughout the entire palate that I do not love. There’s an artificial sweetener like flavor. Really interesting. Decanted for 4 hours. — 8 months ago

La Turque Côte-Rôtie Syrah 1990

Bright scarlet center with tawny rims. Huge nose. Notes of black cherries, smoked meats, spice, menthol and cool slate stone. Silky in the mouth. Velvet glove. Got better and better with air. Long finish. In a perfect spot right now at age 30. — 3 years ago
