Stunning bottle. Medium bodied. Expressive fruit and toast — 9 months ago
Nice premier cru from St Aubin with just over 10 years age. Was honestly hoping for a bit more overall but this was an excellent pairing with some blackened sea bass. Not okay at all, definite green minerality characteristic that is hard for me to describe. Medium minus acid and the finish isn’t quite all encompassing. But still a nice wine. — 2 years ago
I was very interested in this wine because I had always associated Saint Aubin with the Chardonnay grape vs the Pinot Noir grape. I really like this wine. It was on the lighter and brighter side but was very drinkable and delicious. Before I knew it, I was enjoying my third glass (oops!). I was home so there was no problem. I think the guys at crush pushed the wine (politely), I bought two bottles and I’m glad I did. I’d recommend trying this red St Aubin for yourself. Delightful. Enjoy! — 5 months ago
Tasted blind. This is an elegant expression from Henri Bonneau, whom I luckily once met when he was still alive. The combination of a fungus contaminated wine cellar, old barrels looking like they are about to collapse and wines of extraordinary quality remain a mystery to me to this date. The 1995 Réserve des Célestins shines with wafts of dried Provence herbs such as garrigue, dried strawberry, cranberry, red plum along with an earthy undertone and a pinch of iodine. It doesn't reach the same heights as 1989, 1990 or 1998, but is still full-bodied, extremely smooth on the palate and has well integrated alcohol. The long finish confirms a wine of outstanding quality, which can easily hold for another 10 years. Drink now until 2032. — a year ago
Caramel, burnt peach, toasted oak, full, long. — 2 years ago
Bright lemon color with a bit of reduction on the nose that blows off after a few minutes. Golden apple, pear, lemon, struck match, flint, orange peel, acacia, very light oak impressions of vanilla and clove. Very good balance of flavor intensity with the medium plus acidity and 13.5% alcohol. A nice, seamless package. A bit more intensity would be welcome and will likely develop over time.
