Very jammy, berry and fruit forward. Medium bodied. Good with or without food. — 10 months ago
Unquestionably some of the best Syrah on the planet, JLC made a wine that screams elegance in 2001. After an hour in the decanter is when it explodes to show its layered and intense aromatics and red fruited profile with smoked meats, lavender, saddle leather and a touch of savory herbs. The palate is juicy and bright with silky tannins, incredible balance and texture and a finish that just keeps going. 2001 is in a fantastic spot. — 2 years ago
Pretty classic for the most part. Nose has equal parts apple fruit (with a hint of underripe peach), chicken broth, wet limestoney sea shells, and a light toasty note. Good flavor intensity in the mouth, bone dry, vague whiff of oak, bright minerality driving the flavors. I would ideally like the acids to be higher, but we fucked up the planet so much that’s asking too much. Still very good! — 2 years ago
(Disgorged 1/19)- Always my favorite of the Lieux-Dits and without question one of the very best Blanc de Blancs Champagnes on the planet, it’s stunning tonight, rich, powerful and intense with crazy depth to its layers, unfurling in a Burgundy glass to reveal its complex core of rich orchard fruit, roasted nuts, gun smoke, old rum barrels and candied white flowers, all with seamless integration and balance. The palate is generous and detailed, with racy acids, waves of saline laced chalky Le Mesnil minerals and a finish that just keeps going. For me, the BdB benchmark. — 7 months ago
Quite deep ruby and , garnet terracotta rim. Quite spicy nose , slightly green touches , mix of red and dark fruit . On the palate fills out quite well , good acidity , slightly gritty tannins still with mineral , tobacco notes on the finish . Ok reasonable length . This comes across a bit greener than I remember it , so not sure how representative this bottle is , fine to drink now and over the next 10 years . 91
Second bottle medium deep ruby with garnet rim . Took a bit of time to open up , but very good definition , red and dark fruits, truffle , undergrowth, cigar box and grafite. On the palate quite charming sweet red fruits, red plum, cassis , dried spices, undergrowth , elegant for las cases , grafite and tobacco stained finish . Well balanced acidity and quite gritty but ripe tannin . This is lovely now with time in the decanter and over the next 10 -15 years . Completely different from first bottle . — 10 months ago
Pocked with a Coravin weeks ago. I thought the 12’ was risky. But when you ‘think you know Enderle & Moll you actually don’t’. Dark cherries, lots of lift and freshness, orange zest, touch resinous, crushed rocks, lime, hint kaffir lime, Japanese cypress. Needs more time but shows now much better. After being disturbed and retried. Definitely wait! 13%. So! So little color - elegant. E&M’s Pinot’s are the most unique and most challenging to taste on the planet. World Class. — 2 years ago
Premier Cru, but really Grand Cru, Malco, one of my favorite wines on the planet is just rocking tonight, pnp perfection wafting an unmistakable Dujac nose with layers of violets, cocoa beans, fresh red berry fruit and whole brunch stemmy spice. The palate is pure silk with a mastery in balance of richness, purity and delivery of fruit, texture and acids with a finish that just keeps on going. Amazing wine. — 8 months ago
How fascinating! Extracted but the tannins are very very subtle, very perfumed - violets and roses, but not particularly intense. Soft, easy, a summer drink despite the colour. I suspect the greener and more rosehippy elements in the finish might put off some, but I like it a lot. — 2 years ago
