NV | I am not thát fond about PX but this Lustau blew me away. Luscious smell, multi layered with dates and currants, very vibrant and elegant. The 2019 Malleolus de Sanchomartín is a 100% Tempranillo parcel wine sourced from Emilio Moro's vineyards in Pesquera del Duero and was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Purple with a garnet sheen. The modest nose offers dark fruit notes with hints of wild herbs. On the palate, it's dry, rich and juicy, with a taut, chalky mouthfeel that leads into a compact, restrained finish underscored by traces of oak. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, November 2023)

Enjoyed this somewhat exotic wine. Recommended by a sommelier at a wine shop. Apparently the grape was assumed extinct for 400 years until it was discovered growing on someone’s property in the 1980s. Taste is akin to a Nebbiolo. Blueberry and blackberry on the nose. Bright berries with balanced acidity and dryness. Would love to have again. — 2 years ago
