Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2016 pours a deep ruby/purple with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe black and red fruits: cassis, blackberries, raspberries, red plum, tobacco, a touch of bell pepper, earth, old wood, and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A classic expression of Bordeaux during a period where the lines between New and Old World have been blurred. This is tasty and showing well in its early drinking window. Dark cherries and cloves prevail on the nose, then you start to dig in into a very layered nose. Complex and broad spectrum.
On the mouth it is supple and creamy, mid palate is beautiful and rich. The closing is somewhat lifting and refreshing with rose and strawberry flavors overcoming the pleasant bitterness.
An excellent wine for the vintage.
It won’t be immediate. Bit it’ll be a nice surprise in the years to come.

The website didn't update for the 2022 vintage yet, but according to Jeff Leve (the Wine Cellar Insider often has more recent info than the official websites), it is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon. In any case, it is a beauty. Pineapple and white peach go hand in hand with floral and mineral aromas. It has a very round mouthfeel, but very fresh at the same time. Probably the finest value in Pessac-Léognan white Cru Classés these days. — 6 months ago
