explosive from the first sniff and sipp, no decant, really nice with and without food. More modern than old-school…, re-buy! — 6 months ago

Great second wine here. Yes probably too young but with 2 hours in the decanter this was singing. In another couple of years 94. Super wine — 9 months ago

Château La Garde

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

Solid nose of dark red fruits. Tannic yet silky and long finish. This is an excellent old-world merlot/cabernet blend with finesse. It can stand on its own, or be enjoyed with food as it is a little on the acidic side. — 4 years ago

Chateau Bahans Haut-Brion

Pessac-Leognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

An oldie but a goodie, great claret color, garnet with a touch of purple, a faint brick on the rim. The nose is haunting, with leather and old library page aromas, dried sweet tobacco, smoke, and roasted coffee beans. The palate is silky, expansive, with savory notes and lush and full textures. A long, elegant and broad finish. — 13 years ago

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend

Loved my first sip of this. Have in my notes that I liked it less as I kept drinking, but then liked it again at the end. It’s pretty dry and you can taste the yeast. Definitely apple-y , I also get some grapefruit and pineapple. It has a bit of oak and minerality. Feels polished. Nice wine. — 6 months ago

Château Pape Clément

So underrated and punching way above its weight class. Bit more delicate and pure than your high end Boudreaux. Perfect for seaside dinners. Great vintage too. — 8 months ago

Leognan

Domaine de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan 2018

Decanted this for an hour and a half and reserved a glass in the bottle for the second day. These notes are based on the second day, as the flavors seemed to shine through a bit more. On the nose, aromas of blackberry and leather, although had to do quite a bit of swirling to get the aromas to come through. On the palate, beautifully deep flavors of blackberry and black currant coming through, with hints of graphite and cocoa in the background. Tannins seems pretty well integrated with good acidity, although definitely some grip on the finish. Cocoa seems to come through a bit more on the finish as well. Overall really tasty, but seems to be closing down a bit for sure. I have one more bottle, so looking forward to seeing how this tastes in 5-10 years time. — 10 months ago

Château de la Louvière

Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2004

I believe this was the second year Chateau Louviere used the Stelvin enclosure on their wines and this may have contributed positively to the experience with this bottle, considering it’s age and rather questionable provenance. The wine pours a sort of burnished gold color, slightly hazy. On the nose, the wine is a little funky with peach, orange, tangerine, lemon, yellow flowers, and wet ashy forest floor. On the palate, desiccated stone fruits and citrus fruits with some vanilla and a nutty marzipan-like thing. Medium+ acid, medium alcohol. Finish is medium+ finish, slightly bitter and slightly sherried but overall really quite satisfying and universally enjoyed. — 5 years ago

Pessac-Léognan Cru Classe des Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

2014 vintage. Last tasted 6.2.23 (9.3). Light-medium body. Decanted with very little sed. Tasted after 30 minutes and two hours. Some fresh, green herbs along with tobacco and milk chocolate notes. Unperturbed and completely confident. Slightly better than the last visit and feel like another decade/near-decade will find this at a 9.5. 4.8.26. — 5 months ago

Château de Fieuzal

Pessac-Léognan Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 2007

Deep golden colour.
Beautiful mature White Bordeaux. Good complexity in the nose and palate, showing almondpaste, pumpkinpie, tangerine, dried mango, beeswax and hay. Quite rich, but there’s enough acidity and bitterness to balance it all out.

Vibrant color. Wow, it’s like the Little Red Riding-hood porridge of wine. Not too dry, bold, acidic, long, short or tannic. Just right! Absolutely delicious. Would absolutely buy again and one of the best wines I’ve had in a long time. — 9 months ago

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2018

Lovely white Bordeaux. The Semillon dominated at the beginning, finishing with lemon from the Sauvignon Blanc. Straightforward and nowhere as complex as the Malartic-Lagraviere, but a delicious bottle of wine. The nose had a great citrus and flower aroma. — 4 years ago

Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Archetypal Bordeaux - old world in style, but where the savory characteristics are well-integrated with common Bordeaux fruit notes. Well-structured and precise, with notes of blackberry, cassis, tobacco, cedar, and vanilla with a long, somewhat chalky finish. — 6 years ago
