Château La Tour-Martillac

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2016 pours a deep ruby/purple with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe black and red fruits: cassis, blackberries, raspberries, red plum, tobacco, a touch of bell pepper, earth, old wood, and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A classic expression of Bordeaux during a period where the lines between New and Old World have been blurred. This is tasty and showing well in its early drinking window. Drink now through 2036+. — 5 months ago

Château Larrivet Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Color showing some age already. Nose of ripe plum. Medium acidity with resolved tannins and medium plus finish. Still some fruit at the first sip, which gives way to some wood, coffee and dark chocolate flavors. — 2 months ago

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2024

Dark cherries and cloves prevail on the nose, then you start to dig in into a very layered nose. Complex and broad spectrum.
On the mouth it is supple and creamy, mid palate is beautiful and rich. The closing is somewhat lifting and refreshing with rose and strawberry flavors overcoming the pleasant bitterness.
An excellent wine for the vintage.
It won’t be immediate. Bit it’ll be a nice surprise in the years to come.
95-97.

Chateau Latour-Martillac

Pessac-Leognan Red Bordeaux Blend

Have had the 2009 vintage twice, in 2024 at a tasting and in early 2025. The first was the best of the tasting, and the second was a fine compliment to spring leg of lamb. dark fruit and smooth tannins. $68 when purchased in 2024. — 6 months ago

Château Picque Caillou

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Deep Ruby red color with aromas of black berry fruits and pronounced spice notes, blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. On the palate ripe raspberry and blackberry flavors with notes of cacao, oak and vanilla. Medium finish, fine tannins, ending with fruit oak, and earthy tobacco character. Organic! Drink now! — 2 months ago

Château Pape Clément

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Merlot dominant in a left bank. Rare but definitely an experience. Plush wine with good tannins and a great evolving flavor. Black currants, touches of plums, graphite and a wine that evolves throughout the experience. An age worthy wine. — 3 months ago

Château de la Louvière

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2024

Opening with an interesting and unique orange zest character, then moving to tilled soil. Overall a fresh and mildly spiced nose. On the palate it shows the character but it’s quite harsh to undesired at the moment. — 3 months ago

— 5 months ago

Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2022

2022 vintage. The website didn't update for the 2022 vintage yet, but according to Jeff Leve (the Wine Cellar Insider often has more recent info than the official websites), it is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon. In any case, it is a beauty. Pineapple and white peach go hand in hand with floral and mineral aromas. It has a very round mouthfeel, but very fresh at the same time. Probably the finest value in Pessac-Léognan white Cru Classés these days. — 6 months ago
