Castleng Coste della Sesia Nebbiolo 2018

Really drinking well right now. Spanna with more heft, & that classic Piedmonte character. — 20 days ago

Needs time open. It’s all there but currently discombobulated. Will be back. This needs age. It’s all there but never came around. Check back in 5 years. — 6 months ago

Vallelonga Coste della Sesia Nebbiolo 2019

Brightly acidic. Nice tannins. Delicate. Very nice complex Nebbiolo that doesn’t need 30 years in a cellar. — 6 months ago

Cascina Cottionano Bramaterra Nebbiolo Blend 2020

Bright acid, tart cranberry, thin and little tannin. Sage or pine finish very herby. Easy with food but stands out by itself. — 6 months ago

al forte Coste della sesia Rosso 2018

What a great example of the region the way the additions of Croatina and Vespolina complement the Nebbiolo all grown on the acidic volcanic soil of the region. Red berry flowers mint. Very alpine feel. Plus built to drink early. — 5 months ago

Bramaterra Nebbiolo Blend 2019

A bargain-priced Nebbiolo (Spanna) from northern Piemonte. Nose takes a while to get going but then shows earthy macerated cherry and leather. Full in the mouth. Deep whack of fruit initially, then the tannins come on, and finally the finish tapers into a tail of dry cherry extract. Not the deepest or most complex but nice on a budget and can age a few years. — 6 months ago

This wine is so beautiful. It defies words but words are all I have so here goes nothing. Haunting nose of mid season cherries, melting road tar, dried and fresh roses, spice and cigar. Woodshop, old library books and so much more. Tweed jacket as well. A mesmerizing and spellbinding nose. Palate is just so together and integrated. This is so special with gorgeously refined tannins and amazing purity and freshness. So much refinement hard not to think of Piedmontese Volnay. So concentrated and so nimble with heavenly mid to late season cherry fruit. Terrific structure for long again. Wow. I’ll follow this throughout the night. After many hours of air this has melllowed out and it just flat out gorgeous with stunning fruit presence and clarity. Amazing length. 9.5 to 9.6. — 6 months ago
