Nice but not quite at the level I was hoping. Maybe a bit past its prime? Quite a deep yellow in the glass. Lots of body. Has a bit of a pronounced lanolin quality. Would not have guessed Chablis, doesn’t have the acid or cut. Was hoping it would come together more on day 2 but never quite got to where I was hoping. — a month ago

Widly complex, expectedly concentrated on the palate, and super intense on the nose. You could even smell it from across the room. Heaps of nuts, dried apricots, curry leaves, and iodine, along with hints of baked lemons, chamomile, yeast, and vinegar. Huge palate weight with enamel-melting acidity. It was rich, salty, spicy, nutty, and savoury. Frankly, the wine was way too young and certainly “too much” to drink alone, but with some 36-month Comte, it was just magical. — a month ago

Coming in at the same quality as the 2022, the 2021 Condrieu Chéry is an athletic Viognier, neatly capturing energy and freshness. Banana, apricot, peach, vanilla, blossom and honeysuckle all race out of the glass. Medium-bodied at most, it concludes with solid persistence on the stimulating finale. From the producer of the excellent Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this Côtes-du-Rhône Villages has notable depth of flavor and excellent balance of smooth tannins, medium acidity and complexity of fruit. Strawberry, blackberry, black cherry, leather, garrigue (wild thyme and lavender) and a subtle meaty note. It’s like a restrained CdP. 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 10% Syrah. For about $20 it’s a good value — 3 months ago
