Finally get to open this 2008 #chateauguadet on our 11th wedding anniversary. Even an hour after opening it wasn’t ready so after 24 hours it’s lovely - quintessential #stemilion, strongly subtle cassis and forest floor on the nose. Fine well-integrated tannins mid-taste, liberal acidity in the palate and a finish as long as a serpent’s tail. It’s kinda of cool this 175 year old estate was restored to #grandcruclasse status in 2008. — 5 years ago

Good but not great #stemilion - this second bottle matches my previous 8.7 rating. It’s got that classic #bordeaux St Em aroma, distantly ripe fruit, earthy forest floor. Nice acidity on the tongue but I’m missing some richness, opulence. It’s definitely needs to breathe a long time. — 6 years ago

What a charming #stemilion Bordeaux Grand Cru. Classic Saint Emilion approachable style, the 2014 is ready to drink now with nicely balanced black currant against earthiness, mid-level acidity and soft tannins that taper away gracefully on the finish. Interestingly this subtle Bordeaux paired well with a mildish Camembert and cherry tomatoes on a toasted baguette. — 6 years ago
