Currant and perfume on the nose with some vanilla and subtle saline minerality. Full bodied dark fruits, velvet on the tongue, great mouthfeel. Tight, moderately tannic, then a smooth prolonged finish.

Linear Hirtzbirger, this is a tight Federspiel that drops a lot of Gruner character in beams of acidity. Notes of hay, sweet lemons, and stone minerality, complex and elegantly tense. #gruner #vacationresearch — 9 years ago
I knew Santa was a 49ers fan this year!!!
Decant for sediment( lots of chunky/fine sedinent). A vivid dark purple with some browing and little bricking. On the nose: sweet/delicate "old" cabernet notes jump from the glass with musty leather, some dark fruit, cedar, bale of hay. Taste: prunes, minerals, smoke, with a cherry leather medium plus long finish. On the downside of its life, but still drinking great for an old 12.5% alcohol cab.....Yum! — 6 years ago

Mid crimson in colour. Tarry savoury berry aromas. On the palate medium to full bodied with earth tar and liquorice ~ typical of mature Heathcote. Tannins resolved. The 15.5%ABV largely hidden. Amazing intensity and flavour considering its age - powerful in fact - also some sweetness. Jasper Hill largely contributed to putting Heathcote on the map. — 6 years ago
Very mineral nose with crushed rocks, a hint of smoke, hay, white flowers, petrol a bit maybe ? The palate is very good : a wide opening with white flowers and white peach, a real grip and texture that lasts and accompanies the acid backbone to the finish with white fruits. Very good but perhaps a tad under the 2015. Less complexity in the structure I guess. Still very good though — 7 years ago
Delectable wine. Hay coloured. Pear aroma. It just keeps improving; hard to contain tasting to just 2 glasses. — 9 years ago
Nice aromas of hay and apple, with a yeasty/bread dough note. More of the same on the pallet, light in body, good finish. — 10 years ago
Probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I really liked it. Broad, powerful, acidity lower than I was expecting. Some seriously vegetal and herbal stuff, like hay, camomile and sage, going on along with ripe melon, grapefruit and pear, almond and chalk. — 5 years ago
Cherry, cola a bit on the nose, some hay, some flowers (violet?) , an earthy thing too. The palate has a very nice balance with a strong acid backbone, some bright cherry all along, some width, a nice fresh and grippy texture and a superb finish with violets and cherry. This is again delivering outstandingly! 😍 — 6 years ago
Un vino con mucho aromas y sabores. Bien balanceado. Es uno de esos vinos que hay que tener siempre en la cava. — 9 years ago
Completely mature now. In the nose you'll encounter the typical bouquet of wet wool, hay, warm wax, hyacinth, cashew and melon. On the palate it's very round, ripe and creamy. Strange..., this serving doesn't seem completely dry to me... Last bottle from a 6-pack, all other bottles were driz-a-bone. — 10 years ago

Annual Boy’s Trip away - this time to Cairns. At a BYO Indian Restaurant. No formal notes. Hunter Valley Semillon from a good year which could still go for another 10 years. Trademark waxy lanolin, wet hay notes. Such purity on the palate. — 4 years ago
