Smooth and soft apple tones and some pear and honey. — 4 months ago
A pull from the cellar to toast my son’s (our first) graduation from High School! The 2006 La Grande Dame pours a deep straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is autolytic and developing with notes of ripe and tart orchard fruits: Bosc pear, green apple, strawberry, raspberry, lemon curd, toasted brioche, marzipan, honeysuckle and chalky, limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and creamy. These are in a fabulous spot. Drink now through 2036+. Disgorged October of 2016. — 6 months ago
long-lasting aromas of citrus, white fruits and flowers. Expressive and delicate, the cuvée demonstrates a great purity, always with perfect balance between freshness and vinosity. Simple, apple, — 8 months ago
More grapefruit and citrus than I usually find champagne. A little yeast and pear. — 3 years ago
Green apple, bright citrus and brioche notes. Always a delight! — 4 years ago
Beautiful #andersonvalley #sparkling wine that punches a good deal higher than its price class. Apple, lemon, touch of toast towards the finish - the $60 bottle price at a casually upscale restaurant in Frisco / Plano represents great QPR. — 6 months ago
Plush and broad. Notes of apple and poached pear… developed and mature but still fresh. Very poised. Supple. Great — 7 months ago
Best. Brut. Bubbles. Expensive but worth it. Some dry earth but lots of apple and pear. Everything has to compete with this. Serve with cheeseburgers and fries!!! — 3 years ago
Gold color, elegant, concentrated. Rich brioche and biscuit creaminess cut with bright underripe fruit acidity (lemon, peach). No apple notes yay. — 4 years ago
Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with floral and herb notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach, melon and lemon citrus zest, with notes of honey and herbs. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, balanced acidity and floral mineral character. — 4 months ago
The final wine at the First Growth Bordeaux Lunch at the Downs Club last Saturday…. and what a great way to finish a wonderful lineup. I recall Apricot and Pear on a palate of profound intensity which delivers on the powerful nose. An obviously sweet palate with enough racy acid to keep things interesting and fresh. Will last until the late 2030s at least. Terrific! — 7 months ago
They are the King’s of Champagne for a reason.
Beautiful mousse. Both yellow & white stone fruits, tropicals, lime & lemon zest/pulp, green & red apple, cream to whipped cream, ginger skin, grey volcanics-limestone minerals, white spice, taunt chalk, baguette crust, sea fossils/foam, white spring flowers, yellow lilies, excellent acidity, balance, structure, tension & elegance for days with a finish that ends balanced on fruit & minerality.
