Vosne-Romanée Pinot Noir 2015

MICHAEL COOPER DipWSET
9.1

Slightly more acidic than I like. It is a polished wine and the 2015 vintage is singing at this moment but it seems tart to me. #vosneromanée — 4 years ago

Cuvée Clos des Avaux Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Vibrant Ruby with aromas dark berry fruits floral and spice aromas. On the palate cherry, currant and raspberry flavors with some fresh cinnamon spice and tea notes. Vibrant acidity, elegant fine tannins, well balanced just starting to wake up, long finish ending with slight earthy notes, plenty of depth, will continue to develop. Nice, but a bit pricey! — 4 years ago

Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2017

En mazoyeres Charmes Chambertin. Muscular, fruit forward, testimony that although most Charmes doesn’t justify grand cru status this one clearly does. Fabulous fruit. — 4 years ago

Les Embazées Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

Lots of vanilla with Nice fresh tart. Subtle hazelnut bitters. Still a young wine. In my cellar it would keep for a lot longer. — 5 years ago

Champagne Mouzon Leroux & Fils

La Blanche Voie Spécial Club-Parcellaire Verzy Grand Cru Champagne Blend

I have yet to “meet” a Special Club that I didn’t love. This ☝️ may sit at the top of my list.

Special Club Champagne is the highest tier of classification that grower Champagnes can achieve. As of 2021, there were 28 Club de Trésors, or Club of Treasures, members. There is a rigorous process before a champagne can be bottled in a dedicated green Special Club bottle.

The 2013 Mouzon-Leroux, La Blanche Voie Spécial Club Parcellaire is made from equal parts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, zero dosage, that comes from the village of Verzy. 100% delicious.

Les Champeaux Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2016

Not Champeaux but Les Golouts. In any case, a stunner. Wild raspberries, roses, cherries on the nose. The red berries continue on the palate. Beautiful acidity.

The kind of wine that makes you want to cry when you smell it.

La Piece Sous le Bois Blagny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Wow! — 5 years ago
