Herb Lamb Vineyards

Colgin Cellars

Herb Lamb Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

1 hour decant(decent fine/cloudy sediment). A remarkable dark garnet with some bricking. On the nose: rolling waves of sour cherry, stewed meat, minty menthol, licorice, forest floor. Taste: layered, juicy, lush mouthcoating wine with dark cherry/plum, chocolate, graphite, and peppery cedar medium plus finish. YUM! — 2 months ago

Château Talbot

Saint-Julien Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2020

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This estate owes its name to Connetable Talbot, the English general & governor of the province of Guyenne who was defeated at the famous Battle of Castillon in 1453. Deep Ruby, purple hues, with aromas of black fruits, herb, tobacco and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of plums and black currants with cacao and tobacco spice, on a well balanced frame. Fine tight tannins, long finish ending with fruit, earthy spice and cedar character. Nice! — 2 months ago

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2010

Very interesting wine this. Lots of leather with cassis and a hint of menthol. Very easy to drink and very smooth. This could develop in the coming years to an amazing wine...one to watch.

Domaine de Bila-Haut Occultum Lapidem Syrah Blend

NOSE: mild, cooked fruit, a little carob. Inoffensive but not especially inviting.

TASTE: cooking spices, chicory, ash, a little bitter —unsweetened minerally dark chocolate - red fruit barely present and dried. Very balanced and elegant. This is going to kill with the herb roasted chicken I’m about to eat. 91.

Château Musar

Bekaa Valley Red Blend

Lively and effervescent. Strawberry, raspberry, tart cherry — fruit forward, balanced by acidity and herbal notes. Picking up bay leaf, dried herb, general green notes. Fun and unexpected. — 2 months ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2018

Bright Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, spices, oak and floral notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and plum with notes of herb pepper, tobacco, cedar and cacao. Long finish, nice balance with fine soft tannins, ending with oak and earthy notes. Needs a few more years in the bottle! — 9 hours ago

Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2004

Last Sunday lunch with Roast Lamb. A 20 year old Rioja fitted the bill nicely. A blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. Aged in new French and American oak for 24 months. Aromatics of tobacco leaf, plum, ashphalt and a bit of tar. A medicinal note the following night. The palate is medium to full bodied with berry, plum and liquorice. Resolved Tannins - quite fluid. This was Wine Spectators No. 1 wine for 2013 and now drinking at its peak but could go on for another 5 years on the evidence of this superb wine. — 2 months ago
