Everything about this wine is DARK. Deep ruby/purple color bordering on black. Aromas of black and blue fruit, Asian spices and coffee. Flavors of cooked black berry/plum/currant fruit, bakers chocolate, tar and espresso. Hint of black pepper on the long, lingering and silky finish. Extremely concentrated with lively acidity. Tannins are firm but in harmony. This is a wine you quickly take notice of. Probably at (or just past) its peak. Thanks for the wonderful gift, Petey P! — 10 months ago
Light, crisp easy drinking... stores have figured it out because price keeps going up... Marlborough region of N.Z. Great with herbed or pepper cheeses, and strawberries and grapes. — 6 years ago
Medium gold. Great weight in the glass. Fruit forward nose. Big impact. Notes of sweet apricot, pineapple, kiwi fruit, wet stones and some honey. Rich in the mouth with light acidity at first but it builds with time in the glass. Great texture. Still youthful. — 6 years ago

First, if you haven’t had this producers wines at 15-20 years of age, you’re missing some spectacular juice. I bought this at auction for $38-$40 a bottle and because I was unaware of its storage, I was prepared to short decant it. Well…until I pulled the cork, smelled it and saw the color. This nearly 20 year old bottling is still big but with nice integration & evolution. I would say it has another 5-8 years of good life in it.
The palate fruit is ruby, ripe and lush; blackberries, boysenberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, black plum. Mid berry cola, dark chocolate to pudding, mocha powder, wet clay, light, black pepper, Asian spice, dry-ish tobacco, black licorice, some dry herbs-sage dominate, limestone, dry top soil, dry brush, used leather, sandlewood, fresh to slightly withering, dark, purple, red florals set/framed in violets and lavender. The acidity is near perfect. The well balanced, structured, knitted finish is excellent and lingers minutes. Steal for the price. Another excellent gourmet burger wine. Barrel taste of the 2016 Insignia.
The nose shows bright red floral fruits. Ripe; dark cherries, blackberries, creamed black raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and a touch of pomegranate. Vanillin, light cinnamon, dark rich soils, dark chocolate bar, soft understated volcanic minerals, violets, red and dark florals.
The wine is still extremely fresh. The body medium full. Tannins are round & slight tarry. The fruits are very ripe and bright. Ripe; dark cherries, blackberries, creamed black raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and a touch of pomegranate. Vanillin, light cinnamon, dark rich soils, dark chocolate bar, soft understated volcanic minerals, limestone, violets, red and dark florals. The acidity is fresh and waterfallish. The fruit is beautiful. The wine has a long way to go in barrel but, it shows great promise. The finish is already well polished with great structure, length and balance.

Nectarine in color. Vegetal, hay, barn-y on the nose - a very surprising aroma. Round mouth feel with pleasant acidity. Getting some grapefruit and citrus and meringue on the back end. Complex wine that pairs wonderfully with a light, pasta primavera. — 8 months ago
Blend of Grenache (34%), Barbera (32%), Counoise (16%), Mourvèdre (14%) and 4% other assorted red grapes. Light salmon pink color. Aromas of citrus fruits, red berries and white flowers. Flavors of strawberries, raspberries, orange, green melon, grapefruit and lemon. Lovely hint of salty and chalky minerality on the finish. Creamy texture (lees contact?) and very crisp acidity. Light bodied, clean and refreshing. Wonderful pairing with a salad. — 8 months ago
This was a surprise! The body and color were surprisingly light, with a light maroon/burgundy, and a Nose of sharpie and old velvet couch opening to notes of wet leaves, and then evolving into chamoy and a fresh bouquet of flowers. this is a wild and excitingly different wine. Like, wow, at first the palate was straight sweet jam, then it became vegetal, with pronounced freshness of prickly pear, with well integrated tannins and a slightly orange citrus finish. — 3 years ago
Very very light and diluted straw color. Lemon & honeysuckle on the nose. Palate is a bit heavier than I anticipated. Plenty of lemon citrus, white peach, nectarine, some green melon, underripe green pear, and some mineral notes. Tart, but lingers on the palate. I dislike using this word but it’s very quaffable, as they say 🙃. A crowd pleaser. — 5 years ago
Rosé really, really does not have to be crap. It can be refined and something special. Delicate light pink in the glass with an atypically complex nose of watermelon, orange blossom, white flowers, and bright citrus. Wonderful acidity and super crisp, this is exceedingly dry and fun. There’s a subtle smokiness that permeates throughout and gives depth to the wine. The mid palate is all bright, ripe fruit which leads way to notes of peaches, guava fruit, tart cranberry, and stone minerality. A bottle of this doesn’t last very long. I don’t know if I’m prepared to say it’s my favorite Rosé but it’s certainly up there. — 6 years ago
Color of bubbly egg white. Nose of honey , a bit gasoline, pineapple, and actually a bit nutty and oaky note. Taste is sweet honey, some zesty peel, Sprite, citrus, lemonade like flavor, light yet refreshing. Aftertaste is a bit short, but definitely a crowd pleaser. — 8 years ago
Simply beautiful Beaujolais the aromas bursts out of the glass. Floral and delicate like walking through a garden on a sweet spring day. Tons of red perfectly ripe fruits such as strawberries and red cherries. Just as delicate on the pallet as the nose with mouth filling flavors of cherry and red current. Surprisingly long finish that lingers throughout your pallet. Perfect BBQ wine on a cool summer night simply fresh and enjoyable. — 9 years ago
