It runs slightly oily into the glass, golden-yellow color, the reduction on the nose is surprisingly limited for its age, it still appears incredibly fresh, then in the mouth a smoothness, tastes like pineapple/tangerine, peach with an enormous fruit body,... for 10 € it's a joke, great cinema :-) — 2 months ago
@Lyle Fass 6 Weeks? I maybe made it 6 minutes. Mosel Fine Wines said this was picked at 110 Oeschle with 40-50% botrytized grapes. I was prepared for a lush dessert ,and had a blue cheese plate ready to pair with it. Wasn’t necessary. The wine is barely off-dry. Generous, though not at all opulent. The botrytis is barely noticeable on the palate, just adding a slight raisin character to complement its honeyed pineapple and saffron notes. It has an improbable lightness and high, refreshing acidity, which makes the mouth water but doesn’t stand out. While I suspect it will gain weight with bottle age, this is a lean, chiseled athlete with not an ounce of excess fat. The finish lasts forever and brings lovely spice and light mineral character. The balance in this wine is impeccable; reaching a Jungian ideal. I have never had an Auslese like this. Bravo!

Nose is subdued at first, but then opens to a range of lemon, lime, white flowers, rock dust. Palate a wonderful vibrant lemon and lime; lots of slate minerality; the acid is quite unique. Very present, and almost has a tannin like quality. I think once the acid integrates over the years it will be something even more special. A great value. — 4 days ago
First time since summer and what a great wine and value. Aromas of cranberry, cranberry bog, spice, mineral and mid to early season cherry. Lovely aromatic precision. Some tree bark and citrus rind as well. Gorgeous palate full of mid season cherry fruit that has terrific sweetness and thrust. So pure, such tiny berry fruit intensity and wonderful sap and finesse. 2020 was such a turning point for Steinmet’s Pinot Noirs. So fresh and energetic and grippy but ripe tannins. Wonderful and let’s see what air does. Ah, great finesse and increasing suppleness and sweetness with air. Just melts in the mouth. — a month ago
Nose: just an overwhelming feeling of freshness. Yellow flowers. Much more dense as this opens. Penetrating.
Palate: sweet minerals. Utterly delicious. Stone fruits. Pure mountain stream. More dense as it opens. Succulent. Juicy. Amazing.
There is a perfection about this. Terrific balance.
