Faustine Vieilles Vignes Sciacarello Nielluccio 2022

As far as I’m aware; my first Corsican wine. Bright and powerful, tart ripe red fruits, low tannin but high minerality. — 4 months ago

Domaine Ponsot

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2007

Pnp perfection with a captivating and explosive layered bouquet of candied red cherries, rose petals, coffee beans and exotic spices. The palate is luxuriously silky with obvious grand cru weight and intensity and there is stunning purity and elegance to balance such power and exhilarating energy. An incredible combination. Its spice and mineral laced finale just keeps on going. One of the best CDLR’s in the biz was perfect tonight. — 7 months ago

Domaine Fourrier

Clos St. Jacques Vieilles Vignes Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Indeed early on in what will be a very long life, but oh so giving even at this stage. It is clear Fourrier, with absolute Grand Cru weight, density and intensity. Red and blue fruit, hints of winter citrus, a fine mineral infusion and fresh violets. There is exceptional delineation, finesse and seductive texture and the finish is supremely long with great precision and fine tannins. Surely many more fantastic years ahead but a joy to try at this stage and to find on the illustrious Per Se wine list. — 3 years ago

Surprisingly light. It starts with a floral overlay - it's there then dissipates into a light finish and then gone. Any easy drink — 10 years ago

Vieilles Vignes Nuits-Saint-Georges Pinot Noir 2013

2013 | Pinot Noir
Domaine Robert Chevillon; Village Vieilles Vignes
Burgundy; Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges, France
(91-93; drink 2028-38)

Lots of powerful cherry and stem-like notes from a standard vintage, not a glass I'd pass over.

Paired to duck confit (D'Artagnan) over green/red lentils with a hit of Dijon mustard to get the acid balance to perfection.

Domaine De La Grand'Cour (Jean-Louis Dutraive)

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Terroir "Champagne" Fleurie Gamay 2015

Popped and poured into a decanter 30 minutes prior. Served double-blind. In the glass, the wine appears a deep garnet with some light staining and what appears to be some slight sediment. Medium+ viscosity. One the nose, a fascinating mix of spiced apple sauce, Fig Newtons, cherries, bruised strawberry, red plum, pink peppercorn, rosemary, baking spices, and pool raft (yes, that’s what you read)…and maaaaybe just a touch of the mouse which could be a clue as to where this might be from. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium tannin, medium++ acid, and alcohol medium+. This wine is complex with a long finish. Frankly, this is incredibly quaffable and ever so pretty! While I think could last longer, the low addition of sulfur has me thinking it’s best to drink these in the next few years. After all, they are delicious right now. — 9 months ago

Mille e Una Notte Nero d'Avola 2016

A blend of mostly Nero d'Avola adding some Petit Verdot, Syrah and a few other grapes. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, sweet notes and spicy scents. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry, currant like, with notes of cacao, licorice and sweet spice, well balanced with acidity. Fine tannins, long finish, ending with fruit, tobacco and sweet earthy character. Very nice! — 2 years ago
