Wow what a nose. Slamming. Floral, elegant and focused. Not vulgar. High toned. Melon, cantaloupe and barely mango. Some intriguing minerality as well but so much Viognier florality. Palate is fresh and energetic. A bit of heat as this is 14.5% and Viognier does not hold its alcohol that well. It’s very good but a tad hot.

Mostly Marsanne and this clocks in at a whopping 15%! Nose is rich and ripe. Very pure. Fascinating Marsanne minerality. Buttery but high end French buttery. Smells big. Palate is quite elegant and shows less heat than the 14.5% Viognier. It’s still there but this is rich and dense for sure but also playful and light at the same time. Very juicy, lovely freshness and as the wine opens it retains more freshness and the heat goes away. Marsanne handles alcohol much better than Viognier. Nose gets much more refined and elegant as it airs out and wow that finish is super long. Really well made. Teetering between 9.2 and 9.3 right now. I’ll see where air brings this . — 8 days ago
Floral, spicey, mocha, gorgeous fineness and clarity. Soft and juicy. Lovey finish. Super juicy and clear. Red fruited. Terrific freshness and acidity. Awesome length. Nose is so high toned. Cote Rotie like. Purple jelly donut vinous though. Fine tannins. Maybe needs a steak. Awesome minerals. — 2 months ago

Whoa! Why did no one tell me about this one? The side project of Mathieu Deiss of the family behind Domaine Marcel Deiss. Beautiful pure copper color with pretty green flecks. One of the prettiest noses I’ve had in quite some time. Delicious honey and orange peel up front. The floral notes are ridiculously fun and exciting. Plenty of herbs and mango, as well.
All Pinot, all day here. 50% Pinot Blanc and 25% each of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. This is so unfamiliar to me but so welcoming and engrossing at the same time. Biodynamic Orange wine that really blows you away from the first sip. Distinctively Alsatian, there’s more than enough to love here. Fresh, lively acid with a kick of spice. The palate is expansive and round with a really nice amalgamation of pretty, rustic fruits. Medium long finish that honestly makes you want just one more glass. Don’t like Orange wine? Don’t like Biodynamic wine? Try this and correct yourself. — a day ago
Fresh Chardonnay from the village of Chaintré, southwest of Mâcon. Vines are about 30 years old and rooted in clay and silex soils. Fresh, mineral, citrus, hints of lemon custard. Good acidity, subtly saline. Refreshing, easy to drink — a month ago
Cherry, raspberry, star anise, and black tea. Juicy to start, astringent on the finish. Low tannin and acid. — 2 months ago
Floral and full of olives. Utterly classic and super pure. Loads of granite and huge dark berry fruit. Aromatic and sensual. Lovely herbals as well. Almost smells like high end indica. Wow this is terrific! Huge power, depth and concentration and big, but ripe and substantial tannins. But of all the normal st. Jo’s I sell this one benefits the most from age. 3-4 years this is what one wants to be drinking. Perfect balance and outrageous freshness. Really long and showing wonderful complexity. After air this gets super duper floral and shows such startlingly pure fruit. Really young with such fine tannins. So well knit and integrated as it airs. The first sip is a bruiser then it gets all elegant and fine. Tangy as well on the finish. A great wine. — 8 days ago
Nose is a bit reduced and sulfury but that will blow off. Some nice berry Syrah fruit and hints of granite. Lovely black and green olive. Spice and smoke as well. For such an inexpensive wine this is showing terrific aromatic complexity. Wow, that’s what I’m talking about! Juicy and so pure. Refined and rustic at the same time with just killer Syrah fruit that is bouncy and juicy. Lots of red berries intermingled with some dark berries as well. As it airs it gets more refined. There is a lot to like here and this represents very very good value. Really longer than it should be as well. As this airs it gets so much lighter and finesse driven. Superb wine! — 8 days ago
