Blend of 76% Cab Sauv, 9% Carmenere and rest equally between Petit Verdot, Cab Franc & Syrah, aged 14 months in French oak, 65% new. Deep Ruby with aromas of stewed dark fruits, spices and herbal earthy tones. On the palate flavors of blackberry and currants, slightly underripe, with herb notes and black pepper spice. Ripe chewy tannins showing it’s youth, long finish ending with earthy herb notes. Very nice, let this one develop in cellar for a few years. — 3 years ago
Nice Corton that is loyal to this strong bodied appellation, still young with some fruit and a nice structure, integrated oak with a slightly dry and rustic finish. 90-91
Beau Corton fidèle à l’appellation, ne montrant pas trop son âge, encore du fruit, belle structure avec un boisé assez intégré sur une belle finale encore un peu rustique et une touche asséchante. — 4 years ago
Second bottle, this one was great; first bottle (last year) was certainly a bit tainted. Pale color quickly deepened to rich gold in the glass; smelled like honeyed fruit, and tastes like it too; bright and citrus; smooth and long lasting. Light to medium sweet. Delicious at nearly 31 years! — 5 years ago
2022/8. As I’ve noted lately, it feels like the de Villaine whites have added another level in the last several years - deeper, more complex and more satisfying, without sacrificing any joyousness and without trying to be Meursault or anything like that. — 2 years ago
Outstanding blanc de blanc! Nose of flowers, honeysuckle, bread, lemons. Palate was a lemons, lemon curd, something herbal, I think some barrel influence which is really nice. So we’ll balanced. — 3 years ago

Guessed this as a 2018 white burg. A successful blind by all accounts! Ripe, lush Chardy fruit (even a touch of pineapples) and excellent quality oak, all wrapped in a lively, saline package. Deceptively light at the start, but air does bring out quite a bit of texture and power. For me, certainly a wine of its soil (white clay on limestone) and vintage, once revealed. Delicious, although I did find it a tad heavy at the end of the night. — 9 months ago
