Château De Fieuzal

Marchesi Antinori

Badia A Passignano Gran Selezione Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2001

Quite deep ruby , with a wide garnet rim, quite young looking. Dried herbs , smoked meat , red cherry, violets , liquorice and antique furniture polish notes . On the palate quite round and rich, sweet red fruits , with that herbal tinge , those liquorice and charcuterie notes also evident . This in fact still shows well a day later , still quite full and rich , with red plum and black cherry notes . Quite good acidity , with quite gritty tannins, balanced alcohol . Decent length . This is very good now though no rush , mature but will continue to show well for a while longer , from now over the next 5 years . Another T Wright Wine choice … see my De Fieuzal 1994 note — 2 months ago

Château de Fieuzal

Pessac-Léognan Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 1994

Quite a deep old gold, light honey colour slightly hazy. Intact and interesting on the nose , lanolin and candle wax , touches of roast almonds and bruised apple. On the palate quite intense and with lemon pith , orange peel , bruised apple and candle wax . There is a lightly sherried character noticeable after a short while that gets more noticeable with time . Good acidity and weight , creamy mouthfeel . Quite reasonable length. This obviously should be drunk now (probably should have been drunk a decade ago too) won’t improve and only will become more sherried with more time . Commendable and a nice surprise but drink quickly once open ! This bottle just one of the weird but wonderful choices available from T Wright Wines in Bolton (uk) , a real gem of a shop that I throughly recommend. — 2 months ago

Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

A real surprise. Iron, meat, dark red fruit, a little reserved like many from '96, but plenty to enjoy. — 8 years ago

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Very nice, yet still somewhat tannic and sturdy.
Last april we savored a bottle of this wine during a memorable tasting in a certain Léognan kitchen and I remember that bottle as more generous, hedonistic and polished.
