This was perfection. Full stop. Ten points, 100, A plus, whatever scale you want to drag into the room, it all collapses under the same truth: it does not get better than this. The 2016 Ar.Pe.Pe. Sassella Rocce Rosse Riserva was so achingly beautiful, so complete, so internally right, that halfway through I stopped even trying to “evaluate” it and just gave in. What makes it unbearable, in the best way, is how nothing sticks out and yet everything glows. The wine has lift, detail, soul, delicacy, authority, all of it moving at once, all of it perfectly proportioned. It just stands there in complete command of itself, and the longer it sits in the glass the more it seems to reveal that perfection and grace are not opposites. They are partners. Words really do start to fail with a wine like this, because the whole point of the experience is that it reaches past language. — 5 months ago

100% Pinot Grigio from Abruzzo. Light straw color. Aromas of orchard fruit, citrus, white flowers and fresh herbs. Bold green apple flavor with additional notes of lemon/lime, pear, green melon and those fresh herbs. Hints of saline and minerals on the medium-plus and slightly (pleasantly) bitter finish. Quite fruit forward but still very dry. Mouth watering acidity and quite bright, clean and fresh. 12.5% ABV. Quite refreshing on a summer day. Thank you for sharing, Mark S! — a month ago

Medium ruby garnet , with medium thin garnet ruby rim. This is quite closed at first , needs some time in the glass . Quite somber and dark fruited , with anis , dry spice and porcini , black tea. Quite meaty and deep . On the palate this is more generous , with quite rich saline edged dark fruits , currants , black tea and porcini . Quite fresh acidity and quite noticeable grippy tannins . Long and really quite intense on the palate , spiced saline finish . Even though there are lots of tertiary notes, there is great freshness and grip on the palate , it’s long and saline. Certainly improved with time in the glass and overall this shows pretty well at the moment. From now and over the next 5-10 years . — 22 days ago
