2020 vintage. Excellent concentration. Medium body with a lengthy, deliciously dry, finish. Looking to taste through the rest of this producer's offerings. This particular wine a little pricey and won't be able to move it but really enjoyed. 04.09.25. — 4 months ago

Great with my Bolognese! — 6 months ago
Fabulous bouquet, earthy, tar, leather, plums, cherries, mushrooms, satisfying finish - everything you would expect from a fine Barolo. — 6 months ago
Popped in poured; no formal notes. The 2020 Pithos Rosso is, to my palate, a lovely Sicilian alternative to Beaujolais. Delicious, refreshingly fruity and just a touch wild. Sufficient structure to provide enjoyment for the near term, but I would just as well drink now. I really enjoy these wines. — a month ago
The nose shows candied orange peel, lemon peel, apricot, honey. The palate is showing a great acid drive, superb matter on the side, even a tiny thickness on the sides, some orange and orange peel notes, a big bright apricot note, some honey and then tannins in the rear that leave a gentle drying layer over a long orange peel, apricot, honeyed finish that goes on for ever. There is a tiny bitter note that blossoms in the very end. Complexity, texture, fruit, matter. This packs it all. The initial barnyardy notes blew off after a short while. This is again great stuff ! — 3 months ago
Quite nice for the price - refreshing — 5 months ago
Light ruby color with a noticeable brick rim. Aromas and flavors of dried cherries and strawberries, dried rose petals, asphalt, strong coffee, orange zest, vanilla and leather. Very spicy and earthy on the medium-plus finish. Tannins have mellowed to a velvety softness. Relatively light bodied. May have just passed its peak. Clearly shows how aging can affect a wine. — 4 months ago
Decanted about 30 minutes prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2007 pours a deep ruby color with an opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of light sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with powerful notes of ripe red and dark fruits: brambles, kirsch, plum, tobacco, purple flowers, green bell pepper, leather, cocoa, and earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. This is positively delightful right now and there are little signs of slowing down. Drink now through 2037. — 6 months ago
Smooth and genuinely pleasing. Celebrating 80. 22/5-2025 (Kjær & Sommerfeldt) — 2 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2012 Villero pours a pale, slightly hazy garnet with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing and initially a little grumpy with the fruit showing a touch stewed and everything a little muddled. However, with about 30min of air, it started to freshen up! This is a trait I find common with traditionally made Nebbiolo from Barolo and Barbaresco in solar years. Morello cherry, raspberry, bruised strawberry, dried roses, tar, dried green herbs, talcum powder, and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and grippy. There is so much nuance and yet, the quality is undeniable. Hard to stay away from. Drink now with patience to let it freshen up in the glass after opening but this should drink well through 2037. — 2 months ago
Some of the most delicious grapes are for this part of Italy. — 4 months ago
Slightly cloudy copper colour . Quite toasty coffee notes at the beginning . Slightly dried fruits, orange rind . On the palate quite round and generous , dried fruits , high acidity and extract , orange rind . Quite long and herbal , with some dried red fruits , roast almonds . This is intense and very interesting , will still age pretty well . Drink now and over the next 5 years. — 6 months ago
