Azienda Agricola Montevetrano

Colli di Salerno Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

Decanted about 30 minutes prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2007 pours a deep ruby color with an opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of light sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with powerful notes of ripe red and dark fruits: brambles, kirsch, plum, tobacco, purple flowers, green bell pepper, leather, cocoa, and earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. This is positively delightful right now and there are little signs of slowing down. Drink now through 2037. — 8 months ago

Piano di Montevergine Taurasi Aglianico 2016

Really good. Needs a few hours of air. I’m guessing will be better in 5 years. Cherries, tobacco, strawberry jolly rancher, earth, a bit of evergreen. — 10 months ago

Taurasi Aglianico 2010

After 15 years this is starting to shed its gloomy and cranky nature. Black fruit, volcanic minerality, tons of fiery and smoky nuances, refreshing acidity.
Very nice!

Riserva Radici Taurasi Aglianico 2016

Firm yet juicy, with nice cherry fruit and rocky minerality. Nice depth, slightly rustic yet juicy tannins and great flow.
8h in the decanter allows sufficient air time for opening up.
A classic and in ‘16 really shines.

100% Fiano, aged 6 months in stainless on its lees, lemon yellow color with aromas of tropical and stone fruits with nutty notes. On the palate flavors of melon, apple and pear with sweet citrus notes. Medium+ length, balanced with lively acidity, ending with fruit and flinty mineral character. Organic! — 7 months ago

Feudi di San Gregorio

Rubrato Irpinia Aglianico 2018

Dark ruby/purple color with a slight garnet rim. Aromas of ripe black berry/currant fruit, ash, smoke and leather. Sour red and black cherry fruit on the palate with additional notes of figs, black olives, woody herbs and black pepper spice. Nice hint of charred oak on the medium-plus finish. Well balanced and powerful. Better as it opened up so give this wine a decant. Solid QPR. — 8 months ago

Fattoria Galardi

Terra di Lavoro Roccamonfina Aglianico Piedirosso 2010

Opened and decanted 2.5 hours in advance of our inaugural Aglianco Osso Buco wine dinner here at the Gotham

Facing off against a range of Aglianco from Unti in Sonoma, Leonetti in WA and Galardi 2007 in Campania

The 2010 Galardi was the most dense and as with the 2007, the fruit was minimal. Instead the flavor profile is herbs, green olives and incredible savory notes. It worked incredibly well with the osso buco and needed the richness to shine. This wine still had a bit of hard edges and could use more bottle age IMO
