Always a favorite, the 2021 vintage holds up to prior years, rich bouquet, full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Paired very well with lamb loin. — 8 months ago
A blend of a tad more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir, nice lemon yellow color with golden edges, aromas of fruit, spice and brioche notes, nice mousse and bubble flow. On the palate flavors of fresh fruit, peaches, pineapple and ripe lemon with hints of toasted nuts and citrus zest. Long finish ending with rich briny yeasty mineral character. Drinks well now but will go another 10+ years! — 9 months ago
Leoville Barton is one of my favorite St. Julien producers and still one of the best values upon release of Left Bank Bordeaux’s. If my memory is correct, I think this was WS’s wine of the year a few years ago.
I haven’t had this since the release at UGC. It was so fresh then. It has definitely put on weight and showing some nice evolution. But, Anthony made his wines for the ages. This will rise 2-3 points with 20 years bottle age.
It is round and lush. Blackberries, black plum, black raspberries, purple fruits, blueberries, some creamy raspberries & dark cherries. Anise, light graphite, tobacco ash, leather, dark, rich earth with dry leaves, dry river stone, limestone marl, dark spice, dry herbaceous notes, hints of black olive, black licorice, dry stems, mix of dry & candied dark flowers, very nice round acidity and a well; balanced, structured, tensioned and polished finish that last minutes.
Would open this in 2032 and beyond. — 2 months ago
An interesting Syrah highlighting fruit with some licorice and dry finish. Was great accompanying meatloaf. January 2024. — 4 months ago
Firm acidity to support the rich apple, pear and citrus flavors and toasty oak component. — 6 months ago
The typical Belle Glos with powerful fruit. Very rich Pinot. — 10 months ago
2017 is fab. Great QPR. Intense with backbone. Give it a few more years. it doesn’t get much better at this price-point. — 4 years ago
Cherry compote, black currant and smoky mulberry; light leather and English tea notes. Lavender and cassis. Black currant dominates a palate rife with smoky blackberry and dark tobaccos, bakers chocolate and dark raisins. Decidedly rich and adumbral.

(Disg. 10/22) Initial is the most produced in quantity of the Selosse bottlings but certainly not to be overlooked, and 2022 disgorgment is electric with distinctive Selossien aromatics, a rich, powerful and textural palate with racy acids and a chalky mineral core. It has both freshness and oxidative complexity yielding a complete, balanced and utterly seamless Champagne. Nothing like Selosse. — 4 months ago
Small gathering before dinner. Have not had a Bollinger Special Cuvée for quite some time, as its price has gone up so much that I can buy a good vintage Champaign for less or about the same price.
Rich, vibrant and elegant, this reminds me why this, along with Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve, is one of my favorite entry level NV bottling. — 5 months ago

The 2013 Comtes de Champagne is a towering Champagne, as it was last year. Rich, sumptuous and explosive, the 2013 soars out of the glass with a captivating mix of tropical fruit, apricot, passion fruit, baked apple tart, mint and yellow flowers. It is one of the most explosive, extroverted Comtes I have ever tasted. Impressive. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2024)
