The 2019 Chardonnay Four is stunning, with a detailed, singular perfume of baked apples and preserved lemon with touches of curry spice and graphite. The full-bodied palate is satiny and textural, combining nutty, honeyed fruits, tangy acidity and stony mineral character, and it finishes with tremendous length. What an incredible expression! — 8 months ago

This 2016 has impressed me each time I’ve had it. Now nearly 7 years old it’s complexity is showing and remains fresh and vibrant. Stemmy fresh forest aromas with allspice hints. Every red fruit imaginable but always in whispers never hits you over the head, has Melville’s classic blood orange peel aspect with a clean cool lingering finish that takes you down as many subtle flavor snd aroma corridors as you allow yourself to go. A hint of iodine sea brine tops it all off. Remarkable. Sta Rita is the best USA AVA period. — 3 years ago

Candied cherry, red raspberry and pomegranate fruit, with notes of Earl Gray tea, spice and forest floor. Fruit forward wine with a saline note on the tannic finish. — 5 years ago
100% destemmed grapes. Ruby red, soft texture, strawberry, cherry and a hint of vanilla. — 4 months ago
Ruby red with aromas of strawberry, cranberry, and plum. On the bud, baking spices, blueberry, cinnamon, and a nice balance and medium finish. — 7 months ago
I used an Ah-So which ended up being merely a precaution since the top of the cork looked a bit dry. Turns out it was fine. Acidity was stunning at 15 years, some dried fruit on top of cherry compote with ethereal traces of tannins at the end. Delicious SRH Pinot Noir. Miles Raymond would definitely approve! 😉 — 10 months ago
Sandhi Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir 2014: Medium-light body. Soft tannins. Medium acidity. Beautiful light red/cranberry color. Delicate perfumed nose with bright red fruits (cherry, strawberry & raspberry). Orange peel. Dried herbs. Earth. Cedar. Smooth easy finish. All in all, I loved, loved, loved this wine. It was drinking perfectly, beautifully balanced and a great representation of the local Sta Rita Hills terroir; felt like I was drinking a Burgundy wine! One of the best Santa Barbara Pinots out there! Happy Sunday Funday! Cheers🍷 — 4 years ago

Had at the Judgement of Paris wine tasting/dinner. Still holding up after 40 years! — 5 months ago
Medium lemon colour . This is showing a little more complex and detailed than the last time . Lemon rind , crushed rocks , ginger and white flowers , touch of brioche also . On the palate a bit more dense , but with good balanced acidity and lemon rind , brioche , ginger and toasty , mineral finish. Drinkable now , though best days will be in 5-10 years time , though I don’t think this will be as long lived as the 2012 . — 9 months ago
2008 vintage. Had never come across the "Little Hill" until today. Light-medium body. Decanted and was fairly musty for 2-3 minutes before it started to blossom. Some blue fruit/menthol/eucalyptus throughout the experience. Demonstrative spice component on the back end. Could really only ding this on being slightly "watery" on the front palate. Otherwise, this is kicking now and has plenty of life and love to give. 5.27.23 — 2 years ago
Nice expression of being in Cherry and herbs the wine was a little shy upon opening but improved what time. — 5 years ago

Doing a Chardonnay flight!
Slightly more heat. From the nose, I predict more fruit flavors. Heavy lemon. More white flowers. A bit of that buttery/creaminess.
Oh yeah. That’s the stuff. A side by side comparison of Matthiasson and Sandhu is v interesting and a lesson in winemaking and different climates of Napa and Santa Rita Hills.
A bit of mako but not a ton to help lower the acidity. More primary fruit characteristics. Lemon. White flowers. Slight butter. And actually a bit leafiness, which I love. — 4 months ago
