If I’ve found a sweet spot it’s definitely value Kabinett Riesling - $15-$25. Show me another white grape this consistent and with complexity in this price range. Much thanks is owed to Terry Thiese and the Skurnick team for making wines available from producers like Jakob Schneider, Carl Loewen, Muelenhoff, Selbach-Oster, and Muller-Catoir. Each have a modestly priced Kabinett showing plenty of acid and explosive smokey citrus fruit. This week’s was Jakob Schneider - just off dry with flinty, flowery, ginger notes. Wow, medium yellow color, very nice floral apricot honeyed with just a hint of that petrol underneath, with a light lithe texture into a bit more acidic finish. 8% ABV. Must have aged well since last time, last one unfortunately — 6 months ago
