Rhini Blauer Spätburgunder 2021

Lyle Fass
9.4

An amazing vintage here. Nose is a bit funky out of the gates but wow once it gets going it’s all red cherries, sour cherries, and wild herbs. So so good. Really lifted. Palate is mega closed but my goodness rhys is super precise and focused. Like a laser. Unreal freshness and acidity and barely ripe sour cherry and early season cherry fruit. Insane velvety and sour/sweet tannins. Wine as sweet tart. This needs air. It’s got the bones but I will check back in an hour or two. Oh this is getting better but it’s gonna be slow. Angular and dense but so balanced. That Rhini structure abounds. — 18 hours ago

Nose : yellow flowers.

Palate: grapefruit. Candied lemon. Mineral. Dense. Delicious.

In a great spot. Big explosive and feral nose. Almost sinewy. Floral, tart cherries, a wildness but also so expressive: Perfumed. Huge mineral background. But the palate is just god tier. So much sweet tangy fruit backed up by just incredible energy. Gets to every nook and cranny. So juicy. Unreal finish. So elegant in the midpalate. Unreal explosiveness and that tart sweetness is crazy and uniquely German. This is insane. — 2 months ago

Liaison Pinot Noir 2021

Wow! So glad I bought a bottle of this. Funky on opening. After 2 hours it is so good. Violets, roses, cherry, baking spice is in background, there’s an earth/herbal component I cannot pinpoint. It is so drinkable but evolves with almost every sip. Need more Pinots like this in my life. — 2 months ago

Baden Spätburgunder Rosé 2022

These E&M wines are just stupido! What do i mean by this? Popped opened. Joined 2 bottles into one because i was not convinced/unhappy. Got close to the sink. Then decided leave in the fridge for 2 weeks. And Voilà now quite awesome. Strawberries, tart, rhubarb, ….bark, more red than Rosé. Dark, complex, orange zest, dark cherry. Would age this 2-3 years. Revisit and then decide on even more cellar time. — 3 months ago

Baden Pinot Noir 2013

Quite earthy. Light. Ten years later for this basic wine and it still does very well. Strawberries, rhubarb, stem influence, oregano… as it opens up give it many hours! Hint raspberry. Still a lot of tannis. Given that this is the basic wine for E&M and was 20$. This is unbelievably awesome 😎. What a wine - i fear this is my last bottle - a cellar find - i am totally disorganized hahaha 😆. — 21 days ago

Baroque and Baden like but with Mosel soul. Dried apricot, juicy and textured. Almost oily but not quite. Really threads that needle perfectly. — a month ago
