Great blend! Tried it a few times - pairs well w/ steak & also went well with Italian dishes (pizza, veal or meat based pasta dishes w/ red sauce). Tried 2011 and 12: I prefer the 11 but both are great! — 10 years ago

Can't believe I've held on to this treasure for so long! Cedar and sandalwood on the nose. Silky with a bright and savory--almost vegetal--finish. Perfect with filet and steak-house style garlicky creamed spinach. These grapes were picked when I was still in high school! — 8 years ago

Papillon 2014 Orin Swift! Of coarse its amazing, its Orin Swift. I changed the rating four times!!!!!!!! Super opaque cab blend! Bouquet is raspberry tart! The initial palate is black cherry, blackberry, boysenberry bliss. There is a spice that kicks in along with a tart tang that tingles the tip of your tongue and numbs the roof of your palate. Oak and tobacco cone to play in the taste next along with a dark chocolate spice! Yummy!!!!! Along with the bouquet the sip doesn’t last long enough so I must have another sip. It is moderately dry. Interesting nose when first opened, but we let it breathe for a bit and it came alive. I'm a huge Shafer fan and will often order this at a restaurant if I'm getting a steak...and I'll drink most any vintage they have. But if this were in my cellar, it would be on the shelf for a few more years. — 10 years ago
