Nice wine, well rounded and fruity, good taste — 7 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2021 pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of black cherry, espresso, black tea, dried herbs and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Drink now with patience but, to my palate, I think this will be better with a few more years in the cellar so the oak can better integrate. This is built to last well past 2041. — 7 months ago
Beautiful. Nice bright cherry and dark fruit, balanced tannins. Restrained Nebbiolo, a pleasure to enjoy. — 4 years ago
Barbera & Bonarda blend from an Emilia Romagno maker. I love this style- gave a good 45+ min decant. Imagine the Bonarda offsets the Barbera fruitiness. Keeps a taut line btw vegetal acidity & that earthy fruitiness. Natural maker of some serious orange wines. 13% alcohol. Didn’t hurt that we drank at sunset, on the Hudson River at home. — 7 years ago
Whoa ... very different. Big bodied and spicy. Almost bubbly. Great with duck at Barolo's on Denver. — 9 years ago
Light body and very "Pinot Noir" like. Bright red cherry and strawberry flavors. Mild tannins and light oak. Hint of smoke. Refreshing. Chill it a bit below cellar temp. Great story about the winery. A Mt. Etna lava flow just went around them 30 years ago. — 10 years ago
Awesome if you can find it. — 11 years ago

2021 vintage.
Sangiovese 60 % and Cabernet Sauvignon 40 % from Pitigliano estate in Maremma, Tuscany with a southwest exposure.
Owned by Tommasi family since 1997.
Rompicolla is ‘breakneck’ but means tremendously steep and slippery slope…a risky adventure.
Soils are deep in volcanic tuff.
Stainless steel ferment and matured 1 year in 65 HL Slavonian oak casks.
Red cherries, raspberries, savoury spice, and floral.
Medium bodied but fresh and clean on the finish.

Volcanic organic wine - aromas of green coffee beans, small red fruits, a little funk. Lots of acidity and freshness. — 6 years ago

— 8 years ago

Ok 17 years old and still this strong and classic?! Nice. Earthy woody notes and usual taste sensations you expect. Was a gift. Wish I had more! — 10 years ago

Served blind . Arrogantly said after a quick smell & taste, Burgundy from 2018 , high quality village wine. WRONG! Beautiful flavors of cherry, earth and mineral. Pepper red fruits, herbs and mouthwatering acid attacked my palate. Still has structure to endure for years. — 6 months ago
