Perfect splurge for quick getaway to paradise for Presidents Day. The wine is medium gold in the glass… vibrant and alive with balanced acidity. Open and generous on the palate… smooth, silken, with vibrant citrus and cream notes. A lively and lovely dinner companion at this stage of development. Happy President’s Day, y’all. — 3 months ago
This 1994 Bordeaux is a pleasant treat and perfect compliment to our assortment of charcuterie and Italian antipasto. Decanted for one hour but could have been longer as the wine continues to open up by every sip. This wine has a beautiful bouquet with earthy flavors including tobacco, leather, and hints of fig. Buon Natale! — 5 months ago
Holy crap this is crazy and funky and special. Fresh cut grass, licorice, fish oil, like, so crazy special. It’s been open for 24hrs and the acidity is still through the roof. Silky and fresh but with lemon rind and mouth drying freshness, this is delicious and really unique. — 5 months ago
Dark ruby robe, showing some bricking at the rim. Nose of cedarwood, top soil notes, cassis, asian spices. Oh so good in the mouth, in spite the very tannins of the vintage. Starting to open up, will probably get even better in another 5 years or so, no rush but already very very enjoyable now. Great bottle and we loved it.

MDT side by side I’ve always wanted to do! 😍
François Raveneau “Montée de Tonnerre” 2013- Now for Raveneau’s MDT where the Domaine has always particularly excelled. Similarly floral and elegant in its bouquet, it is more powerful than the Dauvissat, and there is additional emphasis on its freshness, salinity and crushed oyster shell minerality. The palate shows excellent depth, texture and waxy yellow fruit that’s driven home by a racy citrus inflicted acidity that leads to its long and vibrant finish.
This was a much closer “race” than I anticipated, and only a slight overall edge goes to Raveneau for its power, vibrancy, depth and texture. The Dauvissat is more open, requiring less time to show all that it can be, but that wasn’t a surprise so the Raveneau was given a bit more air. The Dauvissat may even be a bit more complex at this stage in its life but the Raveneau seemingly will be longer lived. (Although still an early drinking vintage especially by Raveneau standards). Most importantly it was a great side by side that I hope to do again! 🙌🏻 — 2 years ago
Surprised by the generosity, drinking quite well for how young it is. Open-knit, true to place, moderately framed with some true charm to it. Really enjoyed over a few days. Deep red fruit, almost succulent, soaked cherries and lots of licorice root, cedar, cinnamon, flowers and tar. There’s a undertone of earth. From a tannin perspective these appear ripe, with moderate intensity relatively speaking. — 5 years ago
Beautiful wine. So earthy, leathery, and powerful. This wine still has years of life left. A nearly perfect Cabernet Sauvignon blend with a Mediterranean twist. It tastes like an extremely high-end Chateauneuf-du-Pape dominated by a high-end Napa Cabernet. Perfect with my Greek lamb chops. I wish I could have left it open longer but I consumed it at my favorite BYOB Greek restaurant. If you find this wine at a reasonable price, buy it. At $90 a steal. — 3 months ago
Medium garnet wide watery rim . No oxidation whatsoever , really quite floral and enticing on the nose , dried strawberry raspberry fruits , truffle , spiced old wood notes . On the palate lovely freshness and elegance with those red fruit, truffle and spiced strawberry, earl grey tea notes . Good length , just slightly drying on the finish now , apart from that this wine really does show well . Very elegant and precise . If you have the bottles open over the next 5 years or so . @ Rockpool Sydney , great suggestion from the sommelier even if I did really want to stick to Australia ! — 3 months ago
One glass and I did not open the whole bottle. Still I am not disappointed. So far one of the best Chateauneuf-du-pape I had except for Rayas. I am wondering how it wilm evolve. Sor far we have dark fruits, a bit of spices and quite à long finish. I am also surprised that such a wine is pretty much unknown. — 2 years ago
Drinking great. Wide open after an hour decant. Typical currant fruit profile and picking up leather & other secondary notes since last tasting this a few years back. I have always been bullish on 96 Medocs but feel like they are really hitting their stride as of late. — 4 years ago
Always fantastic. Took 30 min mutes to really open up. Classic and delicious — 5 years ago
Here’s the thing: this is good wine. It’s dense, chewy, and structured. There’s a nice balance of red and black fruit, graphite, cedar, mushroom, soil, and just a touch of Brett funk. It’s fairly tannic, so probably best with food, but can still be enjoyed on its own. I would never be mad if I was offered this. I was lucky to take home an open bottle from a job tonight, but I think the price tag on this is ridiculous. — 3 months ago
Another half bottle that delivered. Dominus is so consistent. Tight on the open. But after about 40 minutes this opened beautifully. Still so young but it is ready for the impatient. Bright fruit. Currants cherry in harmony with lots of earth. A rich wine. — 5 months ago
Too young.... needed a solid 3 hours in a decanter to open. Beautiful fresh vibrant fruit, acid and tannin to hold it all together. There’s a certain completeness that Ridge has that sets them apart. Very few wines can compete with mouthfeel, fruit, structure, finish and ageabilty. I’d give it another 5 years. — 4 years ago
At almost 15 years old, this baby was about to retire so we decided to finally open it for Christmas dinner. Still that classic Silver oak fruit. Nice velvety texture. — 4 years ago

This bottle much more open than the one a few months back. Super elegant. Red fruit. Tea. — 3 months ago
