Still pretty young. Refined, graphite giving way to pipe tobacco and bitter chocolate but still waiting to come together. Mid-palate presence seemed jumbled.

Beautiful wine....kept getting better and better. Didn't last long enough to most likely peak!

Last week was a combo of 4th Friday and Open That Bottle Night on back to back nights. Needless to say, the lineup between both days was full of heavy hitters, so I’m only posting standout bottles.

No rating. I know ‘88 wasn’t a spectacular vintage, but I was shocked at how herbal and vegetal this was aromatically. I had the ‘89 Lafite two months ago and it was superb. I kept going back and forth wondering if this was corked. I still don’t know for sure, but I do know this seemed off. Although vegetal on the nose, the palate was fairly rich and full bodied. Soft baked fruits. It was a bit muted though with zero finish.

While tight, even with four hours of decanting, this was still a big hit

Wow. How boring. Flabby, no fruit, dry, thin, acidic on the end. Good length but too bad flavor profile sucked. Bad bottle not bad vintage.

Some bricking on the rim. Perfumed with a ton of earth. Hits every part of the palate very nicely. Good finish with sleek acid. Excellent pairing with dry aged ribeyes.

Smooth, slightly smoky, a slight twang on the tongue...probably the spray from the field.

Still so fresh, great structure. Took about an hour to really open up but silky smooth. Underrated vintage that was showing beautifully
