Soft, but with enough body and structure to assert itself. — 5 years ago
Loved the spiciness of this Spanish beauty. The Garnacha exploded on the finish the first night. Stuck the cork in it over night and it was even better the second night. — 6 years ago
Good value Mencia. Plums (almost prunes) and violets on the nose. Cooked dark berry jam and beef jerky flavors on the pallet. Rugged but acceptable tannin structure. Smokey finish. Good QPR. — 7 years ago

A rich complex intriguing wine. Dark fruit, nut and pepper. Tannins but not too much. Really amazing value, and for 7 years old still tastes incredibly vibrant. — 11 years ago
Damp earth it in a good way. Raspberry & spices. Yum — 12 years ago
On the nose - flowery and lots of blackberries/strawberries.
On the palette - blackberries, sour cherry, and stone/gravel. Somewhat earthy, but not funky.
I was surprised at the tannin (med+) and has good acidity. Would go well with food.
Reminds me of a Beaujolais, but less of that jammy character and more minerality. Longer finish too. Decently complex and interesting wine. — 3 years ago

Gordon's Spanish tasting 9/21/16. Floral nose with minerals. Palate balanced and with minerals. Finished long. Bit like northern Rhone syrah. — 9 years ago

91 points for $10 at Costco. Aged in French oak for 12 months. Dry, not fruity. Solid wine. — 11 years ago
Bastante bueno, y bien de precio. — 12 years ago
Wine with roasted whole chicken part 2: I used to adore Ribera Sacra, & then moved away with the inevitable rise in price & trend towards more modern styles. Not this. A short decant (45-60) to take the wind out of the Brett sails, & we were off: dense, brambly black fruits on nose & palate, with a distant barn door left open on the nose. Medium plus acidity. It’s the length though that impressed me, along with a freshness (at 13%). Evolves in glass, as if the fruit still has layers. Like a really good chinon. At about 28$, a high end QPR. Eric Solomon imp, interestingly enough. — 4 years ago
Solid rose. — 5 years ago
Deep ruby. Powerful black/blue fruit, incense, Indian spice and vanilla aromas on the expressive nose, with a smoky mineral quality adding urgency. Offers sweet, densely packed boysenberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors that spread out steadily on the palate, picking up an exotic hint of star anise and a touch of licorice on the back half. Lush, broad and seamless in character, finishing with superb energy, sharp delineation and smooth, even tannins that add structure and subtle grip. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2019) — 6 years ago

Great balance between white pepper and minerality. A little too light for bbq but great for 2+ glasses with a full moon out tonight. 2012 Ribiera Sacra - Pena do Lobo. Nevermind the thirsty monkey #riberasacra #redwine #red #spain — 11 years ago
