Engaging wine: very shy but slowly opened to reveal gorgeous cherry & rhubarb, alongside rose hips, soil, minerals, stones & white pepper. a bit light bodied for Nebbiolo, but great extraction - not over done, a liqueur element, hi quality winemaking. lively acidity as well. focused & precise on palate with great fruit & terroir but not overly ripe - harmony with mildly chewy tannins. Decent length on finish. Interesting & impressive. There is not a ton of fruit here, but it has great balance - probably only near term cellaring potential tho / thanks @Lyle Fass — 4 years ago
Greenish hued, lighter color than expected - impossibly complex aromatics after an initial musty basement / grandma’s attic nose. Elegant, balanced, finesse, graceful - only wee bit of RS, drier than expected - also not fat or thickened w/age. This was actually an age defying wonder. Thanks @Lyle Fass — 5 years ago
So this wine came around big time!!! So the rating has changed. A great Pinot. Like a Premier Cru from Gevrey for much less $$$. Dark fruit. Forest floor touch of spice just barely ripe blackberry cherry hint of cardamom. Congratulations to Lyle the importer. Needs plenty of air but then really shines. — 7 years ago

Ample and opulent pinot fruit. Plenty of acid keeps it energetic. Complex nose of spices and brioche develops with time. Very nice, especially good value. @Lyle Fass do you know when these were disgorged? — 8 years ago

This is simply an intense, masterful, delicious bottle. High tone, with an intricate and developing nose of rose water, amaretto, fresh sawdust, rock dust, and white pepper. Palate is intense with long deep juicy red cherry feel, and powerfully grippy but finessed tannins. Rounds out with tar and crushed granite, and a long building finish. Sheesh @Lyle Fass — 3 years ago

Very dark. Deep dark red cherries. Excellent and worth the wait no regrets. 5min in - quite tannic can go for 5 more years. Classic. Hint cassis. Even blueberries. Tart. Very very good. Lyle are you still importing him? Great juice. Days later stored under Argon - stunning. — 5 years ago
No new notes, see my multiple other posts. It's Friday afternoon, time for relaxing with our favorite NV, QPR stealer Champagne. Nothing more fine.
@Lyle Fass You are the best, thanks! — 5 years ago
I opened this before I went to work and just put it on a shelf. Came home and drank it with dinner. Super precise aromas, very as if crystallized. Dried cherries, leather, tar, roses, dried roses, menthol, some licorice...really resolved tannins. Acid is still good. Intense perfume. Very good with a mushroom risotto and some bloomy rind cheese. Wish I had some more. Thanks @Lyle Fass — 6 years ago

At Galopin in Annecy, a few days after tasting/buying the 2022 at the Domaine in the Isère subregion of Savoie. Rare grape, only about 12 hectares planted worldwide. Nice lemon profile with a bit of mineral and saline, and good acidity. Enjoyed it quite a bit! Also have a few bottles of the ‘21 via @Lyle Fass that I have not tried yet. — 2 years ago
Really impressed with this stuff - reminded me of Chouet’s Femelottes a bit, but this was rounder, much more lush mouthfeel. Golden apples & crunchy minerals, some orchard fruit, bit of paraffin, leesy, but for me it was the absolutely gorgeous mid-palate, opulent and impressive length on finish. This over delivers - bravo @Lyle Fass — 3 years ago
Super good. @Lyle Fass description is pretty spot on. — 5 years ago
NV - Greenish hued and very aromatic w/clearly defined & detailed ripe juicy peach, nectarine & apricot w/clover honey, wet stone, green & red apples. Dizzying array of gorgeous fruit interspersed w/petrol & minerals. Round soft silky lithe mingled w/jolty acidity, this did not have the RS I expected (minimal). There is undeniable elegance here. I cannot believe @Lyle Fass sold me this bloated, high alcohol, flabby, Oak-chipped, overripe Meiomi look-alike!
Just kidding. This is elegant, charming, both sprightly and structured. My only complaint is that it needs time and I kinda dig the Trollinger more. — 7 years ago
Ok, so now we're experiencing a second, top-tier bottle, from a "Gang of Four" producer...yet to have the Lapierre or Thévenet bottles.
Gamay how I love you so much. Beautiful dried flower and cherry nose, lightly sweet and the finish has wicked length. This was amazing, shared with good friends and a good meal of patiently roasted beef tenderloin. I can't wait to see how this develops in a few years, it needs some time to gain concentration. It will go into hiding in the cellar with the 3.14 bottles and hope they learn something from each other.

Someone beat me to taste this from the bottle. Had 2021 from barrel and predicted it would be a stellar vintage. Well this estate wine is delicious. Cherries galore, lime, plenty of acidity but not over the top. Well balanced. Very burgundian. Yet it retains this slope of the black forest terroir. Strikes me as a drink now wine. Arrived today at 11am. Lyle will kill me for not allowing the wine to rest. I might try the big boys in the next couple of weeks. Can’t wait. Great wines in my book can withstand the shipping journey with ease. It’s a badge of honor. 11.5%. With air 9.4. — 2 years ago
