The nose is intoxicating: sweet tobacco, cured game, olive brine, sweet blackberry...just leaps out of the glass at you. On the palate, more reserved: fantastic acidity, but density lags a little; in fact, this comes off a little thin to my palate, failing to deliver what the nose promises. The finish remains thin, but is high-toned enough that it seems to work, with finely grained tannin close behind. — 6 years ago
Well-executed example of the more modern, super-ripe, plush Zin style. Not a style I am crazy about in general, but this one is not over-the-top. Nose has juicy blackberry, a bit of maple syrup, and some sandestony gravel. Plush and deeply fruity, but within bounds, keeping some balance throughout the long finish. Not super complex, but very nice. — 6 years ago
that ol' #DRC Asian spice magic ✨ leaps from the glass, along with black fruit and smoke and earth. Gloriously complex and silky. With Gabriel Kreuther’s blissful, Alsace-inspired cured snapper. This, pardner, is gastronomic pulchritude. 🤠 #Burgundy — 8 years ago
This is Cab with some guts. Oil-dark in the glass and rustic on the nose, the aroma package is full of back-country bramble and black fruit. There's a savory note of tar that virtually leaps out at me. The palate shows plum and blackberry roughed up by a cedar and spice element in the same way one might break in a cap or a baseball glove. Cabernet Sauvignon is normally not my first choice, but it might be if they all tasted this good for the price. — 8 years ago
Bit of a bolder expression than I prefer for barbaresco in general, but still a very nice wine - especially with beautifully charred steaks at dear old Keens steakhouse. Lots of cherry leaps from the glass. Tannins with some air balance out, but could certainly bear waiting a few more years at least. Mouth filling with great acid and a nice finish. — 5 years ago
11 years later and it leaps from the glass. Blackberries, leather and shaved cedar. Great length with just the slightest bitterness on the finish. It’ll do! — 6 years ago
An absolutely stunning expression of gamay, rich and dark for the style, a stunning deep garnet that leaps out of the glass offering red licorice, fresh and stewed red cherries, with just enough hints of a green, herbal character and a backbone of granite to keep me coming back for another sip again and again. A real beauty. — 6 years ago
Can't drink enough of these. Buyer beware, they have bounds and bounds of raw Mosel power. — 8 years ago
I've had this in the fridge for 20 minutes and it reads a perfect 18.0 degrees on the Vinotemp monitor. Ruby - purple colour to the wine and don't let its transparency fool you, this does have body and delivery! Instant thoughts were 'is this burgundy?!' (Despite obviously knowing better) it immediately reminded me of some of the darker - fruited and meaty interpretations of Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits but this feels ever so fresh. Olives in brine, blackberry and almost a dried prosciutto aroma the leaps out of the glass initially. The wine then started to show a lot more bright, red fruited character as time goes by. The olive brine and blackberry has nestled right in to the background playing quite a nice supporting role. Aromas of fresh raspberry, juiced oranges, ripe blueberry, sarsaparilla and a spicy, floral incense have arrived right at the forefront and there's barely noticeable oak work in sight. The palate follows with raspberry and blueberry but there's a dark chocolate that comes through with the faintest of bitterness, however not off-putting in the slightest. One very noticeable feature of structure here is alcohol; or the lack there of. I've found myself double checking the alcohol at times which sits at 12.5%. The palate flows seamlessly. There is a raspberry-like acidity and the softest lick of tannin. The balance here is admirable. Honestly, it's the type of wine I'm enjoying so much now for its freshness and I don't want to see this sit in my cellar for too long, in saying that I'd be very interested in seeing some bottle development in a few years time. — 9 years ago
Pale yellow gold in the glass. Grapefruit leaps from the glass to the nose, followed by shades of lemongrass. Palate is light in body and echoes the nose with firm acidity and a medium dark anise and mineral finish that moves forward as it opens up. Sauvignon Gris leads this Sauvignon blend with the Blanc playing backup giving it a more Sud-Ouest than Bordeaux Blanc feel. Fans of the brighter yet darker style will really enjoy. And all will enjoy with seafood or rich casseroles or cream sauces. Drink now through 2022. — 5 years ago
Top Rosè that would show at best in years, but it leaps out of the glass now! Intense aromatics, stone fruit with a hint of pepper and some leafiness, but on the palate is med+ body and finishes zippy. I’d love a Tondonia next to it — 6 years ago
Testing the bounds of Sancerre! Reminds me of dry Tokaji - natural Sancerre with all the Botrytis and litte/no filtration! — 8 years ago
The Stemmari Nero d’Avola is darker than a serious bruise and offers a nose that means just as much business. Black fruit, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, leather, cigars, black olive, mocha - I mean, what do you not smell? It's a downright savory palate, too. Forest floor leaps out with plums and licorice in tow. There is a distinct mineral presence and the tannins work, if they really have to. They aren't going to get up just to make the sip harsh. This rustic wine will fit naturally with pecorino cheese, arancini, eggplant stew or even pasta and sardines. — 9 years ago

First things first, that color. Supremely unique, exotically eye catching. A scarlet robe with medium intense fine bubbles. The nose is absolutely bursting with red fruit and yeasty aromas. Blood orange, raspberries, and pomegranate leaps from the glass. Mandarin orange and freshly baked bread also show up.
60% Pinot Noir, with 20% of that being still wine explains the color and profile. Creamy and sexy, this is a highly intense champagne with a ton of character. Quite vinous, it’s rich and alluring. Very well balanced with enough complexity and nice acidity.
Juicy on the palate with more ripe red fruit showing off. Just a hint of brioche but strawberries, black cherries, and lingonberry dominate. More blood orange and tangerines mingle with black tea and a drizzle of honey. This is what you’re looking for. Excellent stuff. — 5 years ago
