La Porte Des Vents

Henri Bourgeois

La Porte du Caillou Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits with biscuit and floral notes. On the palate flavors of peach, apple and melon with white floral herb notes. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, herb and yeasty notes, lively acidity with slight mineral character. Small production, nice! — 10 days ago

Les Beaugrands La Porte Saint Jean Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc 2014

Vintage 2021 | blind tasted | next to 2021 cab franc to see young and old | this Saumur Champigny has a little stinky nose (positive), mushrooms and stable smell. Very round taste with hint of pepper bell, of course it is a point but still has potential to cellar longer. — 4 months ago

Les Pouches La Porte Saint Jean Saumur Cabernet Franc 2020

Solid, but just a tad too much Brett for me that ended up more of a distraction rather than beneficial. — 2 years ago

La Porte Saint Jean La Perlée Anjou-Saumur Chenin Blanc 2022

A walk through the garden and wild flowers on the nose. Medium acid, long finish. Neither sweet nor drying. — 3 months ago

Porte de Novembre Johannisberg

Sweet with body recommend with a salad or something light to combine full body and light food aperitivo work. With cheeses can be, I had it with salsiki, tartare and salad really good combo — 7 months ago

Les 4 Vents

Tavel Rosé Blend 2020

Clear, deep berry red. Shy but inviting nose and medium palate of Montmorency cherry, soft leather, and stony pomegranate. In true Tavel form its decidedly *not* fruit forward. Rather it's a nicely complex deep rosé that's at home anywhere you'd take a lighter red. Steak-topped salads and Thanksgiving dinner are immediate come-to-minds. Drink now through 2030. — 2 years ago

Thanksgiving dinner is a great suggestion! I’ll have to remember this one, as I always struggle to pair with roast turkey.

La Porte Saint Jean Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc 2014

Vintage 2014 | so happy I could hold my fingers from this bottle. Now, at eleven years old it has developed a truly distinguished taste. A combination of brushwood and minerals. With in smell and taste pepperbell, clearly Cabernet Franc. Fantastic. Paired with a very simple Cantonese dish (vegetarian): Tofu stewed in oystersauce. — 2 months ago

Domaine Amaury Beaufort

Brut Nature Les Jardins de la Porte de Troyes Chardonnay - Pinot Noir Blend

Very interesting comparison of grower champagnes. Vincey Marne closest to traditional, very Apple intense, a bit reductive, long on lies, complex . Beaufort very reductive, 100 pct alive, yeasty, incredible depth. The rose almost tastes like a Belgian kriek from a very good house. So much more interesting than the big houses but expensive. — 9 months ago
