Superb!!! Dried Figs, Apricot, honey, and flower. A nice level of sweetness and tartness…kind of like baked apples. Great with our cheese on the beach. — 2 years ago

Herman Story

Milk & Honey Tempranillo Blend

Besides having a great, cool label - Herman Story wines are so spectacular. This is not your standard “red blend” & the Tempranillo/Petit Verdot give a great complexity. Easily paired w/ a huge range of food. — 3 years ago

Château Suduiraut

Castelnau de Suduiraut Sauternes Sémillion Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2006

This is a beautiful wine that's sweet but certainly not cloying. The color is deep golden and the nose offers dried apricots and honey. The sweetness is more pronounced on the palate, but a zippy acidity balances the experience perfectly. The wine finishes long and satisfyingly. — 6 years ago

La Forest Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2007

2007 Dauvissat Forest. Creamy and perhaps further along than is proper to be, or perhaps I just am in denial about how long ago 2007 was, but still crushed seashell and acid and if only it had some honey wow it might be fabulous. — 9 years ago

Le Mont Demi-Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2019

This lovely wine comes off as only off dry due to the very high acidity. Well structured with medium body and a silky texture
Loads of lemon, green apple, pear, wet stone, Melon, acacia, pineapple, white pepper and beginning to show tertiary characters like honey, baked apple
Very good quality and will last for years.

Domaine François Raveneau

Butteaux Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 1996

Medium gold, heavy in the glass. Awesome aged Raveneau nose. Notes of citrus, kimmeridgian white stone and light colored dirt, some honey, some spice. Great mouth feel, with acidity that powered up over 4-5 hours. Awesome with some angel hair pasta and shrimp, looking out over the Kohala Coast. — 3 years ago

9.0

Honey on toast straight off the bat, walnut oil and a very light touch of twiglet makes me think this isn't in the greatest shape but shows some great complexity. In the mouth there is snappy red apple skin from the off though the mouthfeel is rather thin, sleek on the finish with plenty of class. — 9 years ago

Viña Gravonia Crianza Rioja Viura 2012

My first time drinking a white wine from Lopez De Heredia and it’s unlike any wine I’ve ever had before. Very fragrant and a lot of different tastes coming to the forefront. Bruised apple, quince, beeswax and honey. Some almond, slight oxidation and salinity like a fino sherry. This is a big and unusual wine. Not something I would drink daily, but enjoyed it as much on a taste as on an intellectual level. — 2 years ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 1988

Light gold. Looks young. Took 5 hours to open up and show its stuff. In hour 6 this was cruising. Saline and sea shells, wispy lemon fruit, some honey, some white stone. The guesses from the fellas were 2002 Rav Clos and 1996 Rav Valmur. Shows how these properly stored aged Raveneaus can age effortlessly. — 4 years ago

Klein Constantia

Vin de Constance Natural Sweet Muscat à Petits Grains 2014

Greg Ballington
9.6

One of the reasons we always make a trip out to Klein Constantia is for the Vin de Constance. Deep golden yellow with a fragrant nose of honeysuckle, honeycomb and white flowers. Heavy acidity (7/10) and full bodied. Well balanced and rich on the palate with notes of ginger, honey, orange marmalade. Not overly cloye which is nice. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2037. — 6 years ago

Château Doisy-Védrines

Sauternes Sémillon Sauvignon Blanc Blend 1996

Half-bottle. The wine was medium amber in colour and offered orange peel, apple, honeycomb, caramel, smoke, spices, sherry and a mouldy note on the nose. On the palate the wine showed orange, peach, apple, cane sugar, caramel, smoke, spices, creamy honey, some coffee, a hint of chocolate, sherry, mild black tea and a mouldy note, paired with medium-plus acidity, a creamy honey mouthfeel and very good length. Judged by this half-bottle the wine has just passed its plateau and started its slow journey on the downward slope. A good, medium-bodied Sauternes with lots of botrytis character. Drink now. 89 — 10 years ago
