Fantastic eve - a 2019 Walt Blue Jay + this 19yr old gem! Light brown meniscus, but spectacular berry fruit remained. I was so surprised by the superb, char barrel scents balanced w/ the raspberry/cherry fruit. Fun that I had left the price tag on $50 purchase in ‘08…that was steep for me!
I have a few older Calera Pinots left & look forward to how they unfold. — 7 months ago
What a wonderful surprise - found this tucked in the back shelf of my cooler. Great shape, huge opulent plum fruit. Not a ton of sediment. — 8 months ago
Winding down some of my old JC wines & man, they hold up great! 16yr old Ventana Syrah showed tremendous blueberry, blackberry, chocolate cherry notes. — 4 months ago
Whatta treat. Young, sparkling, refreshing Pinot w/ great fresh strawberry notes. Good way to kill the 92-deg eve + 90% humidity! $20! — 4 months ago
Terrific wines & great people at the tasting room! Visited recently & then opened this treat last nite - Walt Pinots are beautifully balanced & this Blue Jay has a lasting rich, cola body & finish. Love it. — 7 months ago
Tasty but closed up on 1st glass (used aerator)…so, had to pour a 2nd glass ;). Vacuseal & had the 2nd half of the btl day 2 - was terrific. — 4 months ago
Saw a few lower ratings for this, but felt it was a wonderful btl. I had several 2010/2011 Panther Creek wines & this Freedom Hill seemed to show the best balance & finish. Fair amount of sediment… — 4 months ago
Agree w/ the previous reviews. Late 90’s RG cabs had huge fruit & have held up surprisingly well. This was a $22-24 btl in early 00’s - what a great value! Loved opening a nice 26yr old treat! — 8 months ago

Dry, crumbly cork but still sealed ok & aerated the particles to get a nice glass (hate to have too much cork in my teeth…). The Ampelos is my fave Jaffurs Syrah. — 4 months ago
