High Bridge Wine

Bodega Catena Zapata

High Mountain Vines Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Deep Ruby color, purple edges, with aromas of dark berry fruits, cacao, sweet spice and herb notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, dark cherry and black plum with cacao, vanilla, black pepper and earthy notes. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, sweet spice and earthy mineral character. Nice! — 4 days ago

Château Musar

Bekaa Valley Red Blend 2000

Beautiful wine. So earthy, leathery, and powerful. This wine still has years of life left. A nearly perfect Cabernet Sauvignon blend with a Mediterranean twist. It tastes like an extremely high-end Chateauneuf-du-Pape dominated by a high-end Napa Cabernet. Perfect with my Greek lamb chops. I wish I could have left it open longer but I consumed it at my favorite BYOB Greek restaurant. If you find this wine at a reasonable price, buy it. At $90 a steal. — 3 months ago

High Valley Vineyard

High Valley - Lake County Zinfandel 2020

Medium ruby in color; cherries, baking spices, and blackberry jam on the nose; medium acidity; medium tannins; tastes like raspberries, strawberry jam, crushed gravel, and a hint of dried herbs with a long finish. Nellie says it's not bad, but I think it's pretty good. — 5 months ago

Very dry, high high acid. Leather, smoke, cedar, minerals. Not much fruit. Higher tannins. And a good borolo flavor — a month ago

Pepper Bridge

Estate Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, oak, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco leaf, earth, dark coffee, dark chocolates and black pepper.

Tangy finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 5 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Walla Walla Valley in Washington State is drinking very nicely now.

Elegant and rich. Fruit forward with lots of earth notes to compliment it.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years. Spicy and entertaining.

A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot. Aged in French oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$80.

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2012

Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days and showed very well throughout. The 2012 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core and some browning towards the rim; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with secondary characteristics just starting to show themselves. Also, the solar nature of 2012 is showing through with loads of truffles and overripe and desiccated red and black fruits: tartufo bianco d’Alba, dried cherry, bruised raspberries, red roses, leather, Fig Newtons, dried herbs, and some dusty and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, drying and savory. I’ve been a vocal fan of the 2012 vintage of Produttori since release and this might be the best showing yet. This is my last 750mL. My remaining bottles are magnums and I’ll look forward to enjoying those over the next 10-15 years. No rush, but this is a fun time to drink these as the truffle character is starting to peak through. — 18 days ago
