2008 vintage. Had never come across the "Little Hill" until today. Light-medium body. Decanted and was fairly musty for 2-3 minutes before it started to blossom. Some blue fruit/menthol/eucalyptus throughout the experience. Demonstrative spice component on the back end. Could really only ding this on being slightly "watery" on the front palate. Otherwise, this is kicking now and has plenty of life and love to give. 5.27.23 — 3 years ago
Showed much better than previous note: inky, generous blackberry, mocha, tobacco leaf, black cherry, cassis on nose, with herbs & pepper accents - impressive complexity on the aromatics for sure… big fat mid-palate in need of sturdier tannins. Kinda fell over all the place, but in a delicious decadent way. — 4 years ago
Nice version of this variety. Rich grape. Quite dry and acidic on the tongue. — 5 years ago
A tropical fruit filled chilled SB with jumbo stone crab in a summer like day.

Currant and perfume on the nose with some vanilla and subtle saline minerality. Full bodied dark fruits, velvet on the tongue, great mouthfeel. Tight, moderately tannic, then a smooth prolonged finish.

The Rutherford Hill Napa Merlot (2021) reveals a deep ruby core with subtle garnet reflections, suggesting youthful vibrancy with potential for short-term development. The nose is precise and layered, offering blackberry and raspberry fruit interwoven with cedar nuances, indicative of measured oak influence.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with light acidity that enlivens the fruit profile while maintaining balance.
Tannins are fine-grained and unobtrusive, supporting a bright structural framework that lends clarity and poise.
The finish is clean and persistent, marked by freshness rather than weight, making this a versatile companion to dishes such as roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or semi-hard cheeses. — 7 months ago
See several previous Delectable notes on this wine and vintage. A pale crimson colour with tawny garnet shades. Aromatics of red fruits (strawberry) and Sous Bois on the nose. It may be pale in colour but carries a Medium plus palate intensity of good length. A very good 2nd wine from Bell Hill from the Canterbury district (just to the north of Christchurch) which deserves more recognition as a source of high quality Pinot Noir. Also referred to as the Waipara District. — 2 years ago
Mid crimson in colour - almost transparent. Red fruited with typical Huon Valley perfume - earthy, Sous Bois, mushroom - sweet and savoury characters on the palate. Finely textured (Chairman’s Trophy - 2020 Tasmanian Wine Show). There is a Reserve Cuvée which is richer still. Had another bottle 63 weeks later on 1st August 2024 with similar notes. Always rich and delicious. I can see why it won the Chairmans Trophy in Tasmania. Had another bottle on 21st June 2025 with similar notes. Luscious, mouth filling and delicious. — 3 years ago
Ruby with aromas dark red fruits and floral spice. On the palate black cherry, blackberry and plum flavors with cedar, pepper and vanilla spice. Big, yet soft tannins, long finish well balanced with acidity ending with fruit, cedar and floral spice. Nice! — 5 years ago
Late to post this from Friday night dinner at Gemma (Dallas spot with nice wine list). Surprised to find this one on the list and just had to order. Fortunately they decanted for us, but it was still a little cooler temp than my liking. Overall this is always a pleaser. Still can’t believe this is a second wine for PT. Silky smooth tannins. Approachable now, but will become even more elegant with time in the bottle. Can’t beat this QPR. Napa cab that holds true to Bordeaux style. (Drank 1/3/20) (not my photo) — 6 years ago
Delicious and smooth. Brought over by Hayley on a whine & wine night. — 7 months ago

Black cherry and blueberry fruit, with black tea, spice and a hint of mandarin orange. — 3 years ago
See previous notes for the 2011 vintage. Hints of kerosene and lime. On the palate M+ intensity and excellent persistence. The following night a more fulsome body with grapefruit and citrus. A great result for the difficult wet 2011 vintage in South Australia. A truly excellent mature Clare Valley Riesling. — 3 years ago
Pop and pour yesterday. Notes from day 2 open. On the nose: soft smoke and chalk, apple, lemon, a hint of reduction...lovely nose. On the palate: chalk, sour apple, lemon, loads of wet stone...fantastic acidity and good density...maybe my favorite incarnation of this wine so far... — 5 years ago
One hour decant(decent amount of sediment). A sumptuous dark ruby red with some bricking. On the nose: Sweet perfume jumps from the glass with black cherry, floral, black olives, and a minty menthol. Let's you know to buckle up....a 4 point harness system buckle up!! Taste: Sweet tannins coat the mouth with dark fruit and jolts of red plum, mocha, cedar, and toasty oak.
A full body, juicy wine with great acidity. A pencil lead/mineral looong finish. Drinking great now and will go another 10 years. Got 2 more bottles...YES!! — 6 years ago

Took awhile to open up. Alcohol and licorice on the nose. Very full and floral. Thin and acidic on the palate. Kind of dry too — 7 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
A Fav! Medium+ lemon color with aromas of stone fruits, spice, floral, cedar, biscuits and citrus. On the palate flavors of apple, pear & ripe apricot with citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty toasty oak notes, rich with creamy tones. Smooth, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit and integrated creamy oak. Nice! — 6 months ago
