Bar-M Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Always great to wine down the weekend with a mellow Chard. Dry and contrasting on the palate with obtuse acidity and a tropical ripe fruit finish; other than that this could be great. — 20 days ago

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1971

Amazingly fresh and fruity for a 50 year old bottle. Organic earth, gravel and minerals to finish. — 2 months ago

As expected from Iron Horse, built for aging. Sadly, these grapes are no longer available to IH. — 6 months ago

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1955

Dark scarlet color with translucent light reddish rims. Old wine nose. Notes of black and red fruit, gravel, barnyard floor, old leather and some old desk wood. Fruit is a bit faded but this has plenty of life with decent acidity and a nice structure. Got better with air and opened up nicely. Better than the last bottle of this lot, despite being a more ragged looking bottle. — 7 months ago

Château Lafite Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

1 hour decant (lots of very fine sediment). A fabulous tawny ruby red color with decent bricking. On the nose: expressive aromatics of cassis/currants, forest floor, delicate aged Bordeaux perfume, sweet spice, tobacco, touch of creme brulee. Taste: A soft, smooth, delicate, refined, supple tannin wine with savory notes of pencil lead, crushed gravel, leather, brambly red berries, touch of cinnamon. Interesting to see where it goes over the next couple hours. Wonderful bottle for a celebration tonight, and then onto Napa for an event filled weekend. — 5 months ago

@Hugh O'Riordan enjoyed several other 1990 1st growths better...had to leave some upside room IF I taste em again. Cheers!

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1985

Bright scarlet color, mostly translucent. Red fruit, gravel stone, spice, dark earth, some tobacco and some leather. Fruit is somewhat faded but still present. I think the 85 LB is moving towards being past peak, but still delivers a nice old world experience. — 5 days ago

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Tasted blind. Reddish tawny color. Closed nose. Later in the evening (after wine had been opened for 9+ hours), notes of black cherry, tobacco leaf, cedar desk, gravel stone emerge. Very rich. Still a baby and evolving. Better tonight than the 82 Mouton. 95+ — 4 months ago

Agreed on the youthfulness. Had this 2-3 months and was surprised (in a good way).

Really good. At 22 years old, still some blackberry, but more earthy and gravel. — 7 months ago
