Black plum, cassis, anise and mint. Amazing complexity and beautiful structure.

Tried this at Chef Geoff in Tysons. First time trying Dunn so I wasn't sure what to expect. Called ahead for a two and a half hour decant. Color was a deep garnet with brown edges. The nose was very tight, savory, greens, dark dirt and something like a dirty garage. Started with savory notes in the palate then completely changed. Moderate tannins and body that was smooth and silky. Very well integrated with some dark fruit, maybe a little cassis. Finish was shorter than expected but still moderate. Overall not a bad wine at all but the finish knocked the points down a bit.

Outliner last night. I’ve never had a DHM that was even remotely approachable. This one came close though 3-5yrs wouldn’t hurt.

2 hour decant(decent fine/cloudy sediment). A brooding dark garnet color with little signs of aging. On the nose: plum, currants, funky smoked meat, mint, and pepper. Taste: soft, smooth wine with some blackberry, sweet tobacco, earth, spiced dark chocolate and some still there slightly astringent tannins....had better Dunn.

This was an outstanding wine. Dark and brooding. Lots of tannin present - but the wine was balanced and smooth on the palate. It benefited from the 2 hour decant. I will keep the few bottles left as a treat in the coming years.

Decanted. Cassis, mocha, dried herbs and graphite. After 15 minutes in the glass blossomed beautifully. Long life ahead of it. Enjoyed it at my Uncles 73 birthday.
