crisp clean taste very good — 4 months ago
Wow! So glad I bought a bottle of this. Funky on opening. After 2 hours it is so good. Violets, roses, cherry, baking spice is in background, there’s an earth/herbal component I cannot pinpoint. It is so drinkable but evolves with almost every sip. Need more Pinots like this in my life. — 5 months ago
One can’t really make Pinot better than this. The Buntsandstein aka - colored Sand Stone. Is really a benchmark wine. One can debate the the style but not really the quality. 2015 was a stand out vintage. This comes from old vines. The wine is alive and talks. Yes talks to you:… Kirsch, almonds, crushed marble, black forest thyme, hint orange zest, touch oregano, … this goes on and on as more flavors evolve with air. The wine will probably age another 5-10 years.
An experience really! But not for the middle of the road „ let’s have a Pinot drinker“ - they will be disappointed ☹️.
I think this will outlast the 15’ Muschelkalk from E&M which is more delicate. One of the main issues the wine is hard to come by. Sometimes only 3 barrels are made. Next day eucalyptus and dried figs. — 2 months ago
Acquiring and trying a bottle of Keller GG Riesling has been on my list for a while, and a great opportunity allowed me to snag this 2018 and finally see what makes this producer so highly regarded.
Enjoyed at pop, and followed over two hours.
I’m sure this could have benefitted from a decant, but part of my desire was to see how it changed from the start. Incredibly aromatic out of the glass…bright citrus and nearly tropical fruits, floral and also a unique smokiness. Texturally, this was powerful with intensity and vibrant-slaty minerality. Fresh limes and limestone wrapped in a full-bodied (for a Riesling) profile with acidity and a finish that lingered extensively. Fresh. Electric. Pure.
I didn’t notice a substantial difference at last glass vs the first, but this is still in its infancy. I can’t even fathom how good these must be with 15-20yrs on them! — 2 months ago
Still kicking. Look at that color! Acid fading but tertiaries knocking. — 5 months ago
These E&M wines are just stupido! What do i mean by this? Popped opened. Joined 2 bottles into one because i was not convinced/unhappy. Got close to the sink. Then decided leave in the fridge for 2 weeks. And Voilà now quite awesome. Strawberries, tart, rhubarb, ….bark, more red than Rosé. Dark, complex, orange zest, dark cherry. Would age this 2-3 years. Revisit and then decide on even more cellar time. — 6 months ago
Tried a bottle in early June 2025. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves. It should do well. — 2 months ago
