8/25/2024 : LE PETIT SCHLOSSBERG à COLMAR en Famille — 2 months ago
It’s such an interesting wine to me because it shifts so dramatically w age & air: at five years it’s drinking quite nicely, with a much more vibrant fruit profile than I’ve had w other bottles & previous vintages. Tasted blind my buddy thought Languedoc & quite jammy. To my palate not jammy as fruits more small berry & not so open knit. For some reason I’ve never seemed to open these bottles at the right time, save for now, which makes me think 🤔 m a damn poor judge or these bottles are finicky, or both! Quite refined & elegant, fine black currants & blackberries. — 3 months ago
Very easy drinking, food friendly and a heck of a bargain. — 22 days ago
Classic. Lots of nice berry flavor. Not much length. — 3 months ago
Flavorful white Côtes du Rhône (Grenache Blanc) with smooth finish, served at Old Vines wine bar, Kennebunk, ME — 3 months ago
This wine offers equal parts richness and steeliness with oxidative qualities next to freshness and verve. It benefits from some time in the glass, coming up to a slightly chilled temp (versus fully chilled).
It has a gorgeous golden hue with medium (+) aromas and flavors of yellow apple, white peach, nectarine, honeydew, chamomile, orange blossom, toasted hazelnut, beeswax, delicate struck match (that faded as the wine opened up), ground white pepper, and wet slate notes.
On the palate, it’s dry with medium alcohol, clocking in at 13% ABV, and a vibrant acidity, lending balance and lift.
Its varieties include 30% Bourboulenc, 30% Marsanne, 30% Viognier, and 10% Clairette.
This wine vinified and matured (for 8 mos) in a combination of oak and stainless steel tanks.
From what we understand the 2014 vintage in the Southern Rhône was tricky, and less than ideal... but here’s to tasting these wines with a little bottle age to discover how meticulous practices in the vineyard and winery can produce a wine of beauty, complexity, and resilience, despite facing nature’s adversity! — 4 months ago

So smooth; all the GSM flavors, including cherry and some dark fruit. Not too earthy, which some might not like. — 4 months ago
