Delish. Explodes on the palate. Remarkably dark fruited. Tiny bit of Brett. Rustic in that way. — 6 months ago

Domaine Hubert Lignier

Les Chaffots Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1994

At Batard in NYC. Decanted. Nice aged ruby color. Sweet nose including ripe berries, mushroom, forest floor and some spice. Good mouth feel that lasts long enough to give you the terroir impact. Really like the finish. This was on the wine list at two restaurants in NYC this week and both somms said this was a recent direct release from the domaine. So good provenance and a good showing for a so so vintage. — 10 years ago

Gorgeous on the nose. Classic aged burgundy. Soft pretty cherry fruit, with gorgeous subtle brambles and earthy notes. Browning at edges but in a good place with lots of secondary notes — 7 months ago

Beauregard Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay

Jasmine, quince paste, spiced pear, lemon curd, pineapple sweetness, punchy. Touch of lemon pith at end, but tons of juicy acid. Creamy / lactic. Chalky minerals. Layered, delicious, weighty.

Bonnes Mares Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1996

1996 vintage. At Ryozanpaku in Kyoto, Japan. Medium garnet - slight bricking around the edge. Medium intensity of aromas, manure, earth, blackberry, violet creams and savoury spices. Fairly complex if slightly mature. On the palate, good fresh acidity, medium body and noticeable rounded tannins. The mid palate is flavoursome and impressive. The finish is slightly short. Probably won't benefit from further ageing. However, I suggest giving the wine 30 minutes of air before serving. — 9 years ago

The Chenin Blanc adds another dimension to the predominantly Chardonnay based wine. Just right acidity leaves room for flavors to be enjoyed. Enjoyed in Chardonnay glasses, not flutes. Terrific! — 11 years ago

Terrific rich and deep nose of savory minerals and an elite airiness. Also a hint if that classic Pommier richness. Pure and fresh. Palate is deep, rich, savory and incisive. Mouth-filling and deep. Awesome structure and finesse. So well made. Flavors of lemon, lemon pith and some savory elements. Has years to go. Truly great. — 6 years ago
