A nice example of a fairly obscure varietal. It worked better with my tuna entrée than with Bonnie’s rack of lamb. I think it needs a bit more aging. — 18 days ago
Quite smoky & raw. Gravel & raw cacao. The fruit really hidden right now. Barely hinted. After some time a bit of cassis emerges.
Dense on the palate. And quite burly. Big tannins, juicy yet very present. Great depth. Roast, cacao, very masculine.
This is way too early to drink this, still needs time to settle down. Brilliant but way too young. — a month ago
I’ve always found these wines to need just so much age to show well (I do think that changed starting in 2017), but at age 12 Roumier’s Bussiere is absolutely ready to go after sufficient air, wafting gorgeous, distinctive aromatics synonymous with Roumier even if it’s not Chambolle. It’s dark fruited but well defined, perfumed with violets, cocoa bean and exotic spices. The palate shows the density and concentration of the vintage with both power and elegance, fine grained tannins and a saline-mineral laced finale. Fantastic showing of 2012 Clos de la Bussière with many great years ahead. — 19 days ago
Excellent Bordeaux probably one of the most approachable examples despite its young age. Bright red and dark fruit with good crescendo balanced by velvety tannins and soft notes of vanilla, nutmeg and wet dirt. Medium bodied and medium alcohol with balanced acidity. Cheers. — 21 days ago
This is why I love Bordeaux! $40 bottle tastes like $100! Lovely dark red color with purple and maroon rims. Classic Bordeaux nose of cedar, rust, flowers, and subtle cow shit. Aged cherries, anise, cedar, and lilacs on the palate. Lovely texture that coats and sticks. Medium plus depth and finish. Really good! — a month ago
Quite closed on the nose right now. Closed yet rich. With black currant leaf, a bit of cedar wood, a hint of dark plum.
On the palate this is already surprisingly ready. Very elegant, the tannins velvety, juicy, so finely grained & smooth. Amazing quality. Poised, impeccably balanced, with great depth. This is quite spectacular. Even if it’s infanticide. — a month ago

Another great wine from Bordeaux by Barde-Haut. EXCELLENT 2001!!! — 23 days ago
Bottle in and bottle out, always delivers regardless of vintage with this kind of age and more. Hour and a half decant.
Still round, softened medium plus tannins. Ripe, ruby; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, plum, black raspberries, some fig & date, dry, crushed, ripe crushed rocks, dry top soil, dark, bit driven spice, sandalwood to barrel shavings, fresh & used tobacco w/ ash, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon stick, vanilla, some black licorice/cola, withering, candied; dark, red, purple flowers, round rainfall acidity, balance for days, nicely tensioned and elegance & polish that lasts two-minutes. — 23 days ago
Still one of the best Napa Cabernets for the money. 12 a fruity & very high yield vintage in Napa Valley.
12 is a fruit leaning vintage. It is juicy, ripe, blackberries, black raspberries, black plum pudding, some boysenberries, cedar, medium plus tannins, dry tobacco, leather, dry leaves, expresso, French barrel shavings, sandstone, dark, rich, sweet, turned earth, stems, black, rich, sweet earth, steeped tea, alluvial limestone minerals, baking spices, liquid, dark, red, purple flowers, w/ rainfall acidity and an elegant, rich, fruit driven finish that lasts nearly two-minutes.
12 a vintage to age, but not long age. Lacks the tannins to do what 13, 14 will.
Happy birthday Angela. — a month ago
Amazing w/ the Allen Brothers A-5 wagyu.
This is another Bordeaux producer that makes wines for the ages. I’ve waited & waited on 2000, this shows some readiness. Yet, will go another 20 plus years.
Tonight this is well balanced earth & candied fruit. In 10 years, this is candied fruit & florals.
Still medium plus tannins. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum with ample skin, juicy dark cherries, poached strawberries, raspberries, dry limestone grains with powder, dark, forest floor with dry leaves, some dry herbaceousiness-bay leaf, mint, dark spice, clove, nutmeg, some cinnamon, hints of vanillin, mid berry cola, sandalwood to cedar shavings, used leather, pipe tobacco, anise, some mocha, sun tea, dark, red, purple flowers with a touch of blue, excellent acidity and a well knitted structure, balanced, nicely tensioned with a ripe, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes.

2018 vintage. Meyney likely the best cheap chicken/affordable value play in St. Estèphe (and arguably amongst all the big BDX AOC's). Medium body with beyond pleasant mix of oak, fruit, earth, body, complexity, stuffing and howdoyoudo. Super stuff for the price and beyond that. 5.9.24. — a month ago
Nez explosif de framboise, fraise écrasée, barbe à papa, confiture, fruits des champs. La bouche est longue, savoureuse avec des saveurs de fruits des champs et de petite confiture. Superbe — 8 days ago
