Baroque and Baden like but with Mosel soul. Dried apricot, juicy and textured. Almost oily but not quite. Really threads that needle perfectly. — a month ago
Wow! So glad I bought a bottle of this. Funky on opening. After 2 hours it is so good. Violets, roses, cherry, baking spice is in background, there’s an earth/herbal component I cannot pinpoint. It is so drinkable but evolves with almost every sip. Need more Pinots like this in my life. — 2 months ago
Out of bottle this is built like a brick house. Stacked. Nose is lurid spices, cranberry, sour cherry, hint of va, mid season cherry and a gorgeous earthy and mineral sweetness. But has way more to say. Palate is massive. Huge tannins but super sapid and unreal density. But still remains so fine. But drying on finish for now but this will gain so much with air. I’ll be back. Hasn’t budged much after an hour. Back in the drugs it goes and see tomorrow. It’s evolving and there is. deep feel to it but the tannins are still a bit much. This got killer overnight. So juicy and clean and cascading fruit. Tannins integrated and sweet. 9.5 to 9.6. — 4 days ago
These E&M wines are just stupido! What do i mean by this? Popped opened. Joined 2 bottles into one because i was not convinced/unhappy. Got close to the sink. Then decided leave in the fridge for 2 weeks. And Voilà now quite awesome. Strawberries, tart, rhubarb, ….bark, more red than Rosé. Dark, complex, orange zest, dark cherry. Would age this 2-3 years. Revisit and then decide on even more cellar time. — 3 months ago
An amazing vintage here. Nose is a bit funky out of the gates but wow once it gets going it’s all red cherries, sour cherries, and wild herbs. So so good. Really lifted. Palate is mega closed but my goodness rhys is super precise and focused. Like a laser. Unreal freshness and acidity and barely ripe sour cherry and early season cherry fruit. Insane velvety and sour/sweet tannins. Wine as sweet tart. This needs air. It’s got the bones but I will check back in an hour or two. Oh this is getting better but it’s gonna be slow. Angular and dense but so balanced. That Rhini structure abounds. — 12 days ago
In a great spot. Big explosive and feral nose. Almost sinewy. Floral, tart cherries, a wildness but also so expressive: Perfumed. Huge mineral background. But the palate is just god tier. So much sweet tangy fruit backed up by just incredible energy. Gets to every nook and cranny. So juicy. Unreal finish. So elegant in the midpalate. Unreal explosiveness and that tart sweetness is crazy and uniquely German. This is insane. — 3 months ago

Dear Friends
I think the 2015 Muschelkalk has peaked. Drink up. I opened 3 bottles. The first was oxidized and the other 2 were good. It needs 30 min of air at least! The cork on all three was quite soft.
The wine has this ethereal character but the twisty black forest herbs are gone and so is some fruit. It is still great to drink - but i need to get going!
Calk, very faint cherry. Light like a feather! Needs 30 min of air. Less spectacular than 5 years ago. (Collecting E&M since 2009. And have been at the winery every other year.)
So even though i am biased i cannot rate this as high as i used to! Will check in tomorrow again but i doubt my rating will change.
If you have it you must really drink it up! Will check 2015 Bundsandstein and IDA next. — 12 hours ago
