Roses de Jeanne La Haute Lemblé Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay 2018

For the price, I expected a lot more. So did the rest on the table. Probably too young as it did improve with air, but I’ve had youthful (and cheaper) Champagne’s that performed far better than this. Started off with heaps of pears, bruised apples, and almonds on the nose. The palate was concentrated, juicy and almost too fruity for me (apples and apricot for days!). Air brought about more cut and chalkiness, as well as some floral notes. In short, I expected more depth. I suspect I’m just not a fan of the vintage. Time will tell. — 25 days ago

L'or D'Eugene Rosé Champagne Blend

In my opinion, few producers can match the gracefulness and sheer excitement of Cédric Moussé. His rosé is no exception. Sexy and seductive, there’s a reason I drink this so often.

Stunning in the glass with a saignée style coloring. The nose features strawberries and cherries with blue fruits and earth.

Primarily Pinot Meunier with a splash of Pinot Noir. Composed of not one but two perpetual reserves which gives the champagne that impeccable sleekness and character.

The fruit explodes in your mouth. It’s just so damn good. You really should sit with it and take it all in because it’s such a well made wine but you just can’t. It’s gone in a flash. Every single time. And that’s when you open another bottle.

Roses de Jeanne Côte de Val Vilaine Brut Blanc de Noirs Champagne Pinot Noir 2020

Now this is what I’m talking about! Best of this Bouchard haul. I wonder how much vintage played a role. Dense and intense, yet so chiselled. Aromas of pears, peaches, brioche, white flowers, spices, and even a touch of jackfruit were just bursting out of the glass. Super dense, precise, and long on the palate. Has a really interesting plummy mid-palate note, and lovely salinity. Loved it! — 25 days ago

L'or D'Eugene Brut Blanc de Noirs

Again it’s a champagne from Cédric Moussé, one of the Masters of Meunier. He’s almost single-handedly put Cuisles on the wine map. The L’Or D’Eugéne is a perfect introduction to his style.

Medium gold with fast paced perlage and an attractive bouquet. Black cherries and pretty flowers combine with chalk and herbs. In the mouth, it’s racy and vivacious. Sexy and a bit thrilling with zippy acidity. 80/20 Pinot Meunier/Pinot Noir from a perpetual reserve with an Extra Brut dosage of 2 g/l.

I’ve always wanted to drink this over a few days. To really let it breathe and mature in the glass. To really let it set and enjoy it over time. But I can’t. It’s just too damn good.

Pushed to the back…amazing minuscule mousse… green apple, red apple, ripe pear. Used to be house bubble when $80 per. Smooth, silky light as baby breath… think I’ll look for more hidden bottles. — 9 months ago
