Last had 2 years ago. In a good place, not sure what more time will yield. Decanted a couple hours and paired with fennel rubbed pork chops. Quite seamless. Really nice fruit and a long finish with a nice acid / mineral / saline core that provides for a long finish and makes it a great food wine. — 3 months ago
Nice bouquet of violet, subtle spice. Cherry, herbal and earthy. Liked it better on the second day. Touch hot on the first. — 4 months ago
Earthy (of course). Cherries, raspberries, strawberry, leather, and tobacco. Outstanding, and just coming into its own. — 5 months ago
Wow. The 2017 Pajé from Roagna may be my wine of the (2023) year. Clear brick, almost tea colored. Chocolate, spice, menthol on the nose. Big mouth feel for a wine that doesn’t look or smell substantial or forward. Minerals, hints of red berry, tobacco, subtle tannins. Better with air. Nuanced, layered. Wonderful. — 5 months ago
Birthday dinner wine. Clay pot, dried cranberry, a little balsamic. Jared cooked ribeye, sautéed mushrooms, risotto and salad. Great pairing! Knocked it out of the park! — 2 months ago
A lot less tannic than the Barbs I’ve had of similar age - my guess was 2015 - but still rough around the edges — 2 months ago
Absolutely awesome. Well integrated and drinking really well right now. — 3 months ago

Quite deep ruby , wide terracotta rim . Lighter and more elegant on the nose than the Starderi, porcini , lighter floral and slightly medicinal notes . On the palate rounder generous red fruits , with touch of liquorice , slightly medicinal notes . Quite sweet tannins , and refreshing acidity , good liquorice stained length. This too would benefit from a little more time 3-5 years perhaps , and will last well a further decade — 6 months ago
I think Montefico is one of the richer Cuvées in the PdB range. Initial response - Menthol and Mint - very savoury. Dry powdery tannins; a touch of liquorice and tar on the medium plus bodied palate. Dried cherry. Some bitterness at the finish - good grip even at 13 years. I’m not across all of the PdB Riservas but if anyone is it is probably Galloni. His description, “Imagine the precision of Ovello but with slightly darker fruit and more density and power through the middle. That’s the Montefico.” — 2 months ago

Every time I have this wine it gets better and better. Had this after a scarecrow 2003 and this was way more interesting! — 3 months ago

Classic Barb. Dried cherries, roses, menthol, orange peel. — 5 months ago
Tar, dried roses, dried red cherry, forest floor, leather, tobacco. Med+/high acidity, dusty tannings, almost no primary flavors left. Beautiful wine. Drink now — 5 months ago
Tasted a bit restrained at first, decanted in a travel bottle. Really started to open at dinner about a hour later and seemed to continue to open throughout the meal. It showed cherries, other fruits some dried and slight bit of tar. The finish was long and smooth to the end. Out to dinner with a group of wine friends so very busy and a lot of wines to taste but this one stood out to me. At Anthony’s in HH — 5 months ago
