2016. Red and black fruit with firm tannins. More of a traditionalist style but very approachable now. Rich. A lot of body without being heavy. — 4 years ago
Really good and smooth. Very drinkable with or without food — 3 months ago
1982 vintage. Great, upper shoulder fill. Long, aging cork fully saturated but removed with a Durand. Splintered a little upon removal. Decanted and threw less sed than expected. Decaying leather, cedar, hot gravel and lightly roasted button mushrooms in the nose. Light-medium/medium body. All this + some undying cherry and plum flavors mixed in amongst remaining tannins. More thrust and fruit than anticipated with expected structure firmly in place. Really beautiful specimen. Based on this bottle, can hold steady without dropoff for another 4-5 years. 1.12.24. — a year ago
One of my all-time favorite Chardonnays and have been on the mailing list since the early 1990s. Found this vintage at an Indiana shop. Always true to the fruit without the masking that malolactic and oak. Long finish slight green apple pear and lemon. Owing to the acidity I’ll leave the remaining couple bottles in the cellar and taste them in a year or more. — 5 years ago
Red bell pepper initially entice the nose, soft baking spices follow. As it opens, stewed plums evolve. Velvety plum dominates the palate with herbal undertones. Earthy enough for mushroom dishes, strong and bold enough for beef. Softly masculine and approachable. Tannins are very fine and the finish is very feminine. It simply disappears from the room without a goodbye. — a month ago
Part of a Chateau Mouton Rothschild vertical from 1988-1990. This was my second time enjoying the 1990 vintage and, much like my previous experience, this was rather quiet early and then came on with the business, late. As before, a mix of red and black cassis, ripe and desiccated cherries, tobacco leaf, cedar box, old leather, damp earth, some mushrooms and baking spices. After two similar experiences, I believe this vintage needs a lot of patience and a lot of air to wake up. Without either, it will be misunderstood. Drink now through 2040+ — 6 months ago
Great bang for the buck! Whiffs of Great Grandma's sofa and a smooth plumby finish. Very easy to drink without being too light. Just might become part of the weekly rotation! — 4 years ago

At over 20 years old, the 2004 Opus One is showing beautifully, striking a balance between maturity and vibrancy. On the nose, it opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries, layered with subtle notes of violet, tobacco, and espresso.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a silky texture that coats the mouth without being heavy. The core is rich with dark fruit—black plum, currant, and a touch of blueberry—balanced by earthy undertones and a whisper of leather. Definitely one of my favorites. — 16 days ago
