Outstanding Palmer from a tough vintage. Consistently one of my favorite producers, this Margaux delivers all the goods - perfume of plum and violets. The palate is plush and classic Margaux - graphite, cassis, violets and excellent structure and acidity in balance. Maybe doesn’t have the silky tannins of prime Palmer vintages, but is far more affordable. Just entering it’s prime drinking window now. Happy Friday all — 4 years ago

From magnum....definitely beginning its drinking window — 5 years ago
🏅 Rating 94+/100 (4,45⭐)
This is my 3rd and the last bottle over the past year. It definitely sits at its plateau now and fully awake. Difficult to say when the drinking window will close down.
Lots of energy and precision. Cabernet Sauvignon dominant. Perfumed black currant jam with leaves. Complex tertiary aromas make a beautiful bouquet. Balance of tannins, fruits and acidity at its perfection. Tannins have soften but not yet faded away.
Undoubted 2nd Growth quality. — 5 years ago
Wednesday Wine Committee from this past week. A fantastic hosting by @joe leatherwood . 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind as usual.
Very good right now and hardly showing any heat. It’s so well balanced and integrated that I called this early ‘80s port. Plethora of baking spices, cherry liqueur, dark cocoa dipped graham cracker, dates and cherry fig. Nice sweetness. In a good window. — 6 years ago
Bright tawny color. Regal in the glass. Notes of tart cherries, dry herbs, a little menthol, earth, some mocha. The cherry note is strong and enjoyable. Similar to prior experiences with this wine, it’s very Burgundian. Always solid. Still in a great drinking window. — 6 years ago
Perfect drinking window. Beautiful ripe dark fruit on the nose and palate. Nicely balanced and incredibly smooth tannins (Margaux). This is by no means a Palmer or CM, but it’s very very good for what it is, the vintage, and the price. — 5 years ago
1.5 hour decant(lots of chunky sediment). A medium dark murky ruby red color. On the nose: YUM... aged perfume with blackberry, eucalyptus, cinnamon, toasty oak all jump from the glass!! Taste: red fruit, caramel, currants, spice..a soft, lush wine with a cedar/tar DRY (eehhh)decently long finish. In its drinking window and could go another 4 years. — 6 years ago

Patience rewarded. A vibrant combination of licorice, tobacco, and brilliant blackberry thing going on. Really never thought this wine turn into this window. — 4 years ago
I became a fan of Quilceda Creek when visiting our son at College in the US back round 2005. I bought this bottle from Vinfolio in San Francisco. This wine is a dark Ruby red with a tawny rim developing. Initially notes of asparagus (SO2) which blew off after about 30 minutes in the decanter. Medium weight on the palate with red and black berries and a touch of chocolate. Very balanced at 16 years of age , some savouriness finishing with soft resolved velvety tannins. Medium plus intensity and low acid. I note Harvey Steimans Drinking window was 2010 to 2020. 14.9% ABV is hardly noticeable. One of the 1001 wines and a delight to drink this. — 5 years ago
Black and blue fruits, some tobacco, cedar, and roasted herbs. Tannins almost fully resolved. Seems to be in its prime drinking window. — 6 years ago
The 1994 La Mission Haut-Brion is absolutely fabulous and looks to be one of the top wines from this vintage. It begins with stunning aromas of dried cherries and currants along with leather, tobacco, dried spices and hints of cured meat that all take shape in the glass. On the palate this is absolutely seamless, with beautifully resolved tannins and notable depth and this glides effortlessly into the elegant finish. This is still showing remarkable well after 25 years, and should offer a drinking window that could span another decade. — 6 years ago

Just entering its drinking window. It has 40 years ahead of it. Excellent with Ribcap from Costco.
Interesting that there are some vegetable notes on the nose.
Very good evolution. Medium plus tannins. Juicy, ripe blackberries, black raspberries, darkest cherries, black plum/ with skin, ripe strawberries, some blue fruit hues, cedar, black licorice/cola, dark rich earth w/ leaves, sandstone, steeped sun tea, light limestone powder, ripe, light, dark spice, clove, light cinnamon, hints of nutmeg, vanillin, moist volcanic clay, fresh red, dark flowers, framed in violets, round acidity with polish/balance, softly tensioned, elegant that falls on mineral & clay that lasts two-minutes. — 2 years ago
