Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Blanco Malvasia Viura 2012

The wine is subtle and elegant. The tannins are velvety, and the acidity rounds out the finish. The taste buds provide more of an experience than the nose. Dried plum, leather, tobacco, perhaps a softening vanilla. A few more herbs (?) finish, but I'm betting on clove. — 4 months ago

Amador County Chenin Blanc 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 2. The 2023 Amador County pours a bright, deep straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart orchard fruit: peach, lemon, tangerine, white flowers, lanolin, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is waxy. Obviously young but I can’t help but feel that these Chenin’s from Tegan just keep getting better and better. Drink now through 2039. — 4 months ago

Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Aromas of pineapple, guava, and gardenia. Lemon curd, pink grapefruit, and tangerine blossom form a delicate, creamy wave across the palate. Tropical flowers such as gardenia and plumeria play alongside honeyed pears, dotted with a salty, crisp seashell finish. — 4 months ago

La Forest Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2020

I’ve said it before…for Dauvissat, I consistently find Forest to drink pretty much just as well as the Grand Crus, especially after proper aeration. 2020 is a fabulous rendition, open and giving and adding serious weight with some time in the decanter. Pure, textured and expansive with electric acids and layered Chablisen minerality. As it is often with these wines, last glass was the best. — 4 months ago

Taittinger

Comtes de Champagne Grand Crus Brut Blanc de Blancs 2006

Aromas of lemon zest, white peach, and chalky minerality are layered with hints of toasted brioche and hazelnut. On the palate, vibrant acidity with a creamy, seamless texture. The finish is long and precise. A confident elegance. This bottle makes you yell , “Why don’t I own magnums?” — 5 months ago

Agree, Mags on Champagne are different than 750, maybe a dose of grandeur, and maybe some producers (Pierre Peters) have been known to dosage the 750/1500 ml proportionally different, but Taittinger to my knowledge is straight. A favorite in our house as well, we tasted the 2006 initially on premise at the Domaine, a wonderful experience that I'll encourage to anyone in the area.

Cloudy Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2024

This New Zealand Sauvignon blanc offers a bright nose with notes of lime, grapefruit, tropical fruit and sea salt at the end. It is a dry, acidic, medium bodied wine. Flavours of grapefruit and mango are present on the palate. It has a long finish beginning with tropical fruits and ending with sea salt. This wine paired well with sushi. — 4 months ago
